Hi guys,
Since gog galaxy is out now, I see little use for the old gog.com downloader, so how do you properly uninstall the program?

When I went to control panel for the unistall, the program is not listed there. I can find the folder where the app is found, however, if I just delete the folder, will the entire program be deleted? Are there files somewhere else where it cannot be easily found? I'm not too familiar with the registry (I don't know exactly what it is), but I believe certain program make alterations or new programs in there, does the downloader do that?

I see there is an uninstaller exe in the program directory. Might just be able to run that.. but,

A more "official" way to do it would be to run the Windows "Programs and Features" in Control Panel (at least on Windows 7 it's called that and located there).

GOG.com Downloader appears in the list of "programs and features" and can be uninstalled from there; by highlighting it and clicking the "Uninstall" clicky..

How old is your copy of the downloader? One of the early versions was a standalone executable that did not get installed and you could just delete it. More current versions had a "proper" installer and should have an uninstall entry.

Since Galaxy is out now I feel more need than ever for the old downloader. :D

If uninstalling from Galaxy all your installed games are on the left side. Click on the game you are wanting to uninstall. When you click the game and the page opens you will have the option to select "play" and next to it is "more", open the drop down tab for more then go to manage and then uninstall.

Edit: Nevermind, I see you are wanting to uninstall the downloader and not a game. Sorry for the mistake.

I opened up the settings and the version showed that it is 3.6.0.0
When I clicked update, it just said that my downloader is up to date.

When I opened up the folder with the downloader, it had no uninstall.exe

Ain't that the truth :)

Meh for both. gogrepo.py rocks (after you go through the initial obstacles to get it running, like installing all the needed dependencies).

Nowadays I only download my games either with gogrepo, or occasionally directly with my web browser if I haven't downloaded the game yet with gogrepo, or I don't have that external HDD with me (like now at work).

The GOG Downloader was somewhat unreliable for me anyway. It was ok for occasional downloads and if you had a good internet connection, but I seemed to usually run into problems if I tried to either use it over a shitty and slow (mobile) internet connection, or tried to download masses of GOG games (say, a few dozen games with all their extras etc.).

If I did that and later came to see how the download progressed, quite often the download queue was just aborted, and the Downloader wouldn't even resume the downloads. It is as if it croaked at some point because I was trying to download too many games or something.

With gogrepo... no problem downloading over 1000 GOG games in one swoop. It just takes damn long of course.

Hmmm if the gogrepo.py creates links for the games in a htm file, i can see using DownloadThemAll for a bulk downloader...

Reminds me i used to make scripts to use GetRight for a while which also gave save locations... This was years and years ago though...

Personally I would uninstall Galaxy. Nothing wrong with simple browser download, no need for additional clientware, and its worked for many years. The big G on the other has been around for a year and never worked if you see the posts here.

gogrepo.py downloads everything by itself, not requiring an external download manager.

Unless you want to type your GOG password at the terminal and save it in your command history, you'll have to enter it as the application starts, so not entirely without input.

Only one time though. Afterwards it always takes those login credentials from the cookies file it has saved.

Unless of course those login credentials become obsolete, then you need to log in again with gogrepo to create a new login cookie files.
