Just need a clarification on the language here; I was going to pre-order No Man's Sky but that doesn't come out till June 21. Which is way more than 30 days from now....

Maybe a silly question but I assume in this case it would mean 30 days after you download it?

What I've wondered about is whether or not a pre-ordered game is still covered by the normal refund policy after the game comes out. I assume, at the very least, the 30-day "get a refund if there's a technical problem" period starts with the game's release, rather than its purchase (it'd be rather silly, otherwise), but the language in that document doesn't make this clear, unfortunately.

I wouldn't say No Man's Sky is "in development" in the sense of a Steam Early Access type of thing, it simply isn't even released yet.

You might ask a blue or email Support for clarification.

What might be nice is if the 30-day refund policy started once you downloaded the game. (though I don't know what kind of "records" GOG keeps regarding when/how far back a game has been downloaded from your library)

When you pre-order a game on GOG, the time limit for refunds starts when the game releases.

This means that if you were to pre-order a game, as long as you don't download anything you could refund it up to 30 days after release. Once you download it, you can only get a refund (again, within 30 days) if you have a major technical issue that Support can't help you fix. For Games in Development, you can get a refund with no questions asked within 14 days even if you have downloaded the game.

EDIT: Okay, I may be mistaken here. Looking again, Konrad is specifically talking about the "Money-Back Guarantee". I'm not sure if this means it only applies to technical issues, or if normal refunds are allowed within 30 days of the game's release. I've now asked Konrad for clarification.

In short, if it doesn't have the 'In Dev' tag it doesn't fall under that category. Period. Unfortunately for them (GOG and devs), I don't support unfinished games.

According to GOG policy, a sale is considered final either 30 days after purchase or when you try to download the GOG content or any additional/bonus content. Once either of those happens, you no longer will have any return, exchange or refund options unless you have technical issues.

As for the 30-day money back guarantee, it only applies if u hv technical issues with the game & the guarantee starts on THE DAY of purchase. So my suggestion is if u want to be safe, only pre-order a game when it's release date is less than 30 days.

I contacted Support to ask about how the 30 day limit for refunds works with pre-orders. Here was the response:

"Hello, you can request a refund for the preorder during the whole time before its release. After it is released, you have 30 days to request a refund if you didn't download any files, or, if you downloaded and have technical issues you can ask for support and qualify for money back guarantee. "
