Does anybody have any recommendations for games that fit these criteria?
* Game must have prominent LGBTQ characters, and the game must not present them in a strictly negative or offensive light.
* Game must have a significant gameplay component that isn't just scripted. In particular, I don't want any virtual novels, kinetic novels (if you even consider them to be games in the first place), or pure adventure games.
* The game has to be at least decent from a gameplay perspective.
* There needs to be a DRM-free release of the game.
* Bonus points if the game's author is LGBTQ, but that, in itself, is not sufficient. (For example, Bard's Tale 3 and Dragon Wars, as good as those games are, are not what I am looking for.)

Currently, I have Timespinner (metroidvania) and Ikenfell (JRPG) from GOG, ad Celeste from itch.io . Does anybody have any other recommendations?

(If you are somehow offended by the idea of such games existing, or of me even asking this question, please refrain from posting in this topic.)

Edit: Come on. Did this post *really* deserve a low rating?

Hijack of thread - just one of my favorite stories.

Skyrim got much praise for allowing gay marriages, but it turned out to be by accident, The coders just forgot to add a flag for gender, it was left empty, so there is no gender check when getting married. Go progammers

and of hijack, back to the scheduled program

Isn't that the reason the original The Sims got gay relationships as well? The behavior slipped into a trailer and everybody saw and was excited for it.

Also, sorry for hijacking the thread as well, dtgreene.

Might check more Japanese games, the more crazy ones. They tend to have characters who are obviously gay.

Or you check out visual novels, there's some that will have Yaoi or Yuri as central themes. But none of them will be here.

Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt?
Very little text in general, as it's a throwback game styled after Spectrum-era graphics, and while you can choose to marry any NPC, Remedy has an ex-girlfriend and reconciling with her is implied to be the canon choice.

EDIT: There is a DRM-free download on the Remar website.

Ditto. I'd rather have good story/gameplay over superficial reasons.
Dreamfall Chapters

Life is Strange and Life is Strange before the storm

Fear Effect :D

Paradise Killer

Mirror's Edge Cataclysm

Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption

Night in the Woods

Cyberpunk 2077

Borderlands Pre-Sequel

Or how I appreciated Mass Effect allowing FemShep to be a bad dancer, just to learn that they had forgotten to give her the sexy female dancer animations and she was just using the male animations accidentally ...

Anyway, to the OP, I can't think of any any commercial game right now off the top of my head, but I seem to remember that the Neverwinter Nights module Citadel was regarded as an epic RPG campaign that was completely open towards LGTBQ relationships and possibly even featuring a majority of LGBTQ characters. But it's just a (popular) community created module, and NWN is probably not "decent" or an RPG from your perspective due to the (semi turn-based) real-time combat. ;) (Besides, the module might not be compatible with the EE or even the latest version of Diamond.)

Nobody needs to play it, now that you've told us the ending.
Dragon age inquisition is Gender friendly (even have a gay mage) and is not a bloodmage......

Succubus (hate do not care about racism or gender in fact).... lucky us.

AC Odyssey (gender friendly)

Agreed. I can accept it as optional content, but I would never play a game where it's a main aspect of the story that can't be avoided.

Anyway, Dragon Age: Origins has two bisexual companions who can be romanced.
Fallout: New Vegas has a lesbian and a male homosexual as companions.
Thankfully it isn't obtrusive in those games.

Agreed.
There is so much toxicity and passive aggression in the original post, it's radioactive. The victim mentality.
