I would guess it wouldn't be hard to do so, as Bethesda.Net version works offline without the Launcher (for everything except the Mods section, in which Mods only has Quake 64); and that version has Achievement support.
Probably wouldn't be that difficult and take that long to say add GOG Achievement Support to Quake Remastered.
1. Quake [this option is Quake Remastered]
2. Quake (original)
3. Scourge of Armagon (original)
4. Dissolution of Eternity (original)
Old-versions are there. The file size of the folder pretty much doubled in size, at least.
My Steam-folder (not counting re-release folder) for the base package (old files) is taking up around 500MB, NOT including the ReRelease sub-folder.
1. Dopa sub-folder.
2. Hipnotic Sub-folder.
3. Id1 sub-folder.
4. Rogue sub-folder.
My Re-Release folder itself is around 1.23GB in size - which contains:
1. Dopa sub-folder.
2. Hipnotic Sub-folder.
3. Id1 sub-folder.
4. MG1 sub-folder.
5. Movies sub-folder.
6. Rogue sub-folder.
Probably wouldn't be that difficult and take that long to say add GOG Achievement Support to Quake Remastered.
QWEEDDYZ: Steam version didnt keep old version. It not be old+new folder - but completely changed depot.
When I go ahead and boot Steam-version of Quake Remastered, I get a Splash Screen w/ these options: 1. Quake [this option is Quake Remastered]
2. Quake (original)
3. Scourge of Armagon (original)
4. Dissolution of Eternity (original)

Yeah, tried the Steam version I also have, and seems to just add an extra folder for the Enhanced version. Should be pretty easy to set my modded Quakespasm version back up. Probably wouldn't be that difficult and take that long to say add GOG Achievement Support to Quake Remastered.

I retract my request for separate installers for the new version given this.

SmollestLight: As you may have noticed, Quake® Enhanced (updated and visually enhanced version of the original) is available on Steam since Aug 19th. We're in talks with the publisher and have their confirmation that the GOG version of the update is currently being finalised, and will be available on GOG.COM. We'll be sure to let you know when that happens.
GOG users who already own Quake will automatically receive the new enhanced version with a free download.
Say, here's an idea to shorten the waiting time for gog users: Back when Quake was first released here, the installer included all the music files for Quake and its expansions. This first installer was pulled (the very same day, I believe) and replaced by a new one without these files because of rights nonsense. Since the music rights issue seems to be straightened out, why not update the gog version to include the music files again by default?GOG users who already own Quake will automatically receive the new enhanced version with a free download.

KetobaK: The GOG version replace it but still was the only one available with the soundtrack include it in .ogg, was the best version before this new one, hope they just add a new version and don't replace the original one. fortune_p_dawg

Lucian_Galca: What's wrong with the soundtrack in the new version? From what i've tried in my Steam version, the soundtrack seems to be fine, though the volume difference between the soundtrack and sfx could use some rebalancing as even with the music setting all the way up and the sfx setting at 6 (Default settings), the music gets a bit overpowered by the sfx running the enhanced version port. Not matter if it true about removing OGG - GOG never release that version. Quake 1 have only one build.
And to be honest, who believe that nonsense? Music are still there in differ way. And that mean GOG just use DosBox version as main version, and choose way to play music for DosBox version (that actually cant play .cda on disc, but still require disc to play music). OGG is not compatible with DosBox - thats seems only one reason why there is no (and never) version with it for Quake 1.

Nice idea. An update for Quake with Flac files would be fantastic.

QWEEDDYZ: There is NO ONE updates for Quake series here. Music never be cut off. GOG choose cue-image file instaed of OGG. There is never OGG released for Quake 1 (but some files to play them are still there + empty MUSIC folder).

Who believe that nonsense, huh? Then explain this post to me, Sherlock: https://www.gog.com/forum/quake_series/quake_the_offering_music/post1 Not matter if it true about removing OGG - GOG never release that version. Quake 1 have only one build.

Quote: "Unfortunately due to complicated legal issues we needed to remove the ogg music from the game."
Pls edjamafacate ureselves before you post.
Has nothing to do with DOSBox not being compatible with ogg files either, the files were removed because of rights issues. Or as the gog staffer put it: "the world of legal agreements written 20 years ago can be ... a complicated one"
And since those rights issues seem to be resolved now, there's no stopping gog from putting these files back in (and if they kept the CD isos on top of that for the DOS version, that'd be extra sweet).
