Well I finally had success getting the Addons using the GOG version, though I am using Windows 11, which may have also worked with the Steam and Epic versions of the game, if I had installed them on this PC as well.
For those who want to know where the PAK files are located for the Addons after connecting to Bethesda and downloading, they are in the following folder, in their separate abbreviated name sub-folders.
C:\Users\Timboli\Saved Games\Nightdive Studios\Quake
Once downloaded you get DELETE and ACTIVATE buttons in the Quake menu page for Addons. One presumes that ACTIVATE just executes the chosen addon, which I will check out later for myself, as for now I have just backed up the Addons (PAK files).

Oh mr. misunderstood, I'm sorry for laughing at you, truly I am. However the irony was too much for me you see, esp. in light of the steam version actually being the gimped one since the release in 2007 over there as it didn't have the NiN ost included, among other more minor issues. I doubt that egs version fared any better. True at the very least until EE release to finally include the ost, although EE itself is a bastardised edition that has nothing to do with idTech.
I get it that some might want to play quake 1 in kex engine and use bathesda net for whatever reasons. More power to them. It doesn't really concern me as long as the original is still available. They did the release the right way with 2 library entries after all, credit to them. Anyway, you were right all this time that EE would come to gog soon. I didn't care for EE and I still don't, but I'm happy for those who wanted it and waited for it regardless. Having more options is awesome after all.

WinterSnowfall: I'm glad for whomever wanted it here, but to me Quake will always be a monstrously pixelated DOS game. And I love to enjoy it that way. More variety is also good though, and as the classic is still available, all is well :).
Well the hardcore Quake fans still plays the game with quadruple particles (r_quadparticles "1") and crispy pixelated textures (gl_texturemode "GL_NEAREST_MIPMAP_LINEAR"). And that's exactly how I played the addon Quake campaign. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with playing pixelated Quake in HD resolution. New campaign has some decent colored lighting effects which unfortunately can't be reproduced on other source port engines, I heard that devs put those deep into the *.exe* file (same approach as with Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour), and even though devs were lazy enough to not add any new monsters some of the levels are worth to play and enjoy.

Isn't it a bit ridiculous that you need an Bethesda account for the addons? Why can't GOG do that for you? Just put an DLC installer on the downloads page.

Grargar: On an unrelated note, if you download all the (currently 7) addons, you can forget about cloud saving. Since the addons are located in the game's save folder, Galaxy tries to upload them to the cloud, as well. Problem is, the folder's size is 500 MBs, while Galaxy's limit is 200 MBs and Galaxy will pester you to no end if you to try to launch and/or exit the game, if cloud saving is activated.
paladin181: That has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Writing large files like that to a save folder. What idiocy. Braggadar

FTFY. GOG may request Bethesda to do it if they believe it's not meeting their standards, but I'm pretty sure GOG doesn't have the right to alter their client's work directly without their express permission.

To be fair it's a new optional way to play, you still own the original with zero Bethesda stuff in it.

Has anyone installed the GOG version of Quake Enhanced and gotten the 32 Bit version of the game and original expansion packs?
The Steam version did that for me, placing the 64 Bit versions in another sub-folder called re-released. This was on a Win 7 32 Bit PC though.
However, I never got that with the Epic version. This was on a Win 8.1 64 Bit PC.
I note that my original Quake entry in my GOG library still exists as separate, so I guess that is 32 Bit anyway, so likely no need to include another 32 Bit version in Quake Enhanced.
EDIT
I don't know what is going on with files size differences between versions, as one would expect Quake Enhanced to be much bigger, but in my GOG library it is listed as 579 MB, whereas standard Quake in my GOG library is listed as 1.1 GB.
The separately downloaded Addons for Quake Enhanced add up to 499 MB.

Huh, I just checked my library and there it was because I had just previously purchased the vanilla version of it. I have yet to download Quakespasm, but is this legitimately better than that version?

If you don't want pointless achievement notifications to pop up and ruin the experience I'd say you better stick with the original.

Does that still happen in the offline installer? Because I only ever use those. Are these in-game pop ups? I'm sure I'll see soon since I just installed the enhanced version anyway. EDIT: Yeah, I saw it. Immersion breaking but tolerable.
