SmollestLight: As you may have noticed, Quake® Enhanced (updated and visually enhanced version of the original) is available on Steam since Aug 19th. We're in talks with the publisher and have their confirmation that the GOG version of the update is currently being finalised, and will be available on GOG.COM. We'll be sure to let you know when that happens.
GOG users who already own Quake will automatically receive the new enhanced version with a free download.
Noice!

Please get them to release the Unity updates for Doom 1&2 as well. And maybe Doom 64 too (it's already DRM-free on Steam...).

And vanilla Doom 3 & Expansion.

I simply don't get the hype of releasing Windows only Kex / Unity versions of games that already have free high quality cross-platform source ports:-

Doom 1-2 : https://zdoom.org/downloads
Quake 1 : http://quakespasm.sourceforge.net/download.htm
Quake 2 : https://quake.fandom.com/wiki/VkQuake2

Aren't the Unity ports of Doom I and II in the BFG Edition of Doom III?

Not that I recommend them; zDoom is much better.

I do agree on vanilla Doom 3 & Expansion though - while I liked the lost missions, I didn't like the way they cut content from the base game and expansion.

Any news about the unity ports of Doom 1 and 2???? Would be great to have them here too!!!!
Damn! "Modern Vintage Gamer" was a senior developer on Quake:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33T7NPxnEKI
He discusses the work that was put in the new release.

This will not replace the original versions, correct? As in, both will be available to those who own the game currently?

Yeah, like the extra arcade cabinet games that got cut from the BFG version of "Resurrection of Evil".

As for the unity versions of Doom 1/2: i'd personally rather have the original versions that I can plug into any source port, and which don't have cut content.

It's an update to the original, you can access both versions from the game.

Nice

Btw, is the new version wad/etc files that one can plug into any source port/etc or no?
If no, I hope the performance is decent(some newer versions of games have lagged on my system in the past).

Actually acknowledging this is appreciated! :) Thank you.

The Unity ports of Doom 1 and 2 would be nice too. And Doom 64 and *original* Doom 3 + RoE ;)
