I loved Psychonauts and would be thrilled if the sequel came out but I am certainly not trusting Double Fine at all with my money.
I love Psychonauts and I'm thinking about backing the project.
But I don't really trust Tim Schafer these days, looking back at projects like Space Bast DF9 and Broken Age. But hey, lets not be party poopers, this time it might work out alright.
Psychonauts 2 = GOOD.
Double Fine = OK.
Double Fine crowd funding = BAD.
Know who you're supporting. The devs fucked up with Broken Age and with Space Base DF9, so I don't think they'll be any different now. And I don't trust Tim Schafer either.

LesterKnight99: Back this fucking thing, BACK THE HELL OUT OF IT. The time is NOW.
No, and I deeply question the sense and sanity of anyone who does. Ignoring the fact Schaefer is a colossal twat, he grossly mismanaged the vast funds he received for Broken Age, and abandoned Spacebase DF-9.

I'll give him credit for having the gall to beg for more money after such a track record. Of course, he may just be banking on all the dupes out there...

If, by some miracle, he/Double Fine does produce a decent Psychonauts 2, I'll probably pick it up in a Humble Bundle, giving the whole dollar I'd spend to charity. But I do accept that's me being a dick. Must be my privilege showing...

So, what you really mean is Psychonauts 2 Part 1 may be coming as soon as people have pledged 9.9 million dollars?

Marioface5: I'll be psyched for the game if/when it releases (if it's available DRM-free, anyway) but I've learned from multiple Kickstarter campaigns to not waste money on crowdfunding ever again.

hummer010: Another good point. Double Fine seems to be hit and miss on the DRM free lately. Massive Challice is, but Costume Quest 2, Spacebase DF-9, Hack n Slash aren't.
Right below the video you can see both GOG and DRM-free icons. Even Linux without anyone having to nudge them. Spacebase notwithstanding, I wish them good luck with this one. $3.3 million might be a touch high for these post-crowdfunding-disillusionment times.
So.
It's his own crowdfunding site, so he has absolutely no corporate superiors to be accountable to.
There are small private investors whose interests are protected by US federal law. Outside of the courthouse and individually, those investors are completely powerless AND, if/when unsatisfied, will be pressured into not raising ruckus by the rest of the community. Within the courthouse, they are incredibly dangerous.
The impression Schafer makes on these investors takes top priority over everything, because it's not just him and the project but the site which is at stake. One fuckup and the FTC will have him by the nuts.
Backers' interests (remember, it's his site -- kickstarter legalese has done well in backers vs scam creators lolsuits, but this is not kickstarter) won't count for shit.
Finally, $40 for a copy of a game that's not yet made, you've got to be kidding me.

Thinking about Tim Schafer's handling of money, I'd say they need another $3,000,000 for the first half.
He should make his sock puppet do the job.

Well as far I know the budget for original Psychonaust was around 12 million dollars, which is around 15 million inflation adjusted

But anyhow, the levels are a bit too steep to my taste. I didn't like the original for 40 bucks worth.
I love a lot of the Schafer’s older games, though it’s not the creativity side that concerns me, but mismanaging issues. His track record in recent years speaks for itself.
While the original had some good ideas, I'm not a huge fan of Psychonauts. But even if I was, I'm not giving Double Fine my money up front. Make a good game first, and then I'll see if I buy it.
The 3.3 million dollar man does it again
No, plus... NO!

Considering their last good project WAS psychonauts, you shouldn't.

Tim gets 3.3mn, but without a guy with a whip their budget overflows again and they need 8-9mn.
