Broken Sword & Cold Blood - 25 years of incredible adventures.

Revolution Software, the studio behind world-renowned adventure series Broken Sword, turned 25 this year. To celebrate this <span class="bold">"25 years? That can't be right." and "Holy crap, I'm feeling old"</span> occasion - we're putting all of their releases on a single bundle discount up to 75% off.

The story of it all started with Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars quickly becoming one of Europe's best-selling adventures game ever. It's now available in an extended, remastered edition complete with new art, new stories and new puzzles. Whether you're looking for a nostalgic return, or want to see what the fuss is about - this is the best starting point possible. Then, once you inevitably get hooked - you can continue the story with Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror in its remastered edition, then try the series' move to 3D with The Sleeping Dragon and The Angel of Death. Finally, return to the core 2D formula with Broken Sword's most recent re-entry: The Serpent's Curse.
If you've never tied it before, or if you're looking for some action do go with your adventure, this is also a great time to try out In Cold Blood, a suave spy story of a British agent on a world-tour of espionage and hard sci-fi.

Then, when you're done with adventure and espionage - become a keeper of dungeons in Guild of Dungeoneering, the silly, whimsical card-based dungeon building tale - now 30% off all the way until Tuesday, September 29.

<span class="bold">25 years of Revolution Software history</span> is here, in a single bundle at 75% off, or 60% off individually. The promo will last until Thursday, September 24, 9:59 AM GMT.

gibbeynator: It's strange, the reviews for In Cold Blood are from 2009, but I've never seen this game here before today.
You haven't been paying much attention then. I bought if from GOG several years ago. :)
Grabbed In Cold Blood... and now I own them all.

It's not discounted very often, IIRC. That may have something to do with it.

HG1995: Also what is Broken Sword 4 like? The reviews are very mixed
I find it the worst game in the series, mainly due to a very poor plot.
I have a couple of questions that maybe some good GOGlodyte will be able to answer.
Is the Broken Sword series complete, or is it still ongoing?
Also, I gave a look to all the different installments, and I see that some are much better received than others (the 4th one seems to have gathered quite the infamy), so I tought: should I play all the games in order to fully enjoy the series and follow the storyline, or I can skip some chapter?

Well, I haven't heard any plans of a 6th Broken Sword, and GOG has all the released Broken Sword games (discounting any unofficial installments). Instead, Revolution is planning to release Beneath a Steel Sky 2 sometime in the future.

(Note: I haven't played BS5 yet, so these comments exclude that game)

I'd recommend playing the games in order, as although they are really stand-alone games, you will miss the development of the relationship between the two main characters (George & Nico) and references to their previous adventures. My personal ranking of the first four games would be BS1, BS2, BS4, BS3. As you can see, I actually enjoyed BS4 more than BS3, but even BS3 is a decent adventure.

FYI there is also a free fan made episode - Broken Sword 2.5: The Return of the Templars, which is well worth playing. (details here: http://www.mobygames.com/game/broken-sword-25-the-return-of-the-templars)

Thanks for heads up. Still purchased BS4 because it was the only one left to get.
Also got In Cold Blood to make up for BS4's problems.

Actually Charles Cecil in a recent interview with "Retro Gamer" magazine said he has some ideas for a sixth game and feel it will come to reality some day, though he didn't add any more details.

But regardless of that, each BS game is a pretty stand alone affair and could be played without the previous ones, hell we doesn't have any indication that the release order is the chronicle order of the games.

I got to disagree with you here. Personally I thought that once you get past the abysmal controls of BS3 it's actually a better game than BS4. I thought that it had better story and puzzles (with the exception of few crate puzzles) than BS4. And especially it's Nico chapters are better than those of BS4.

BS5 has a slow start, but generally it's a lot like the first two games.

I don't get the hate which is circulated around the Fourth epidose (I replayed this summer again) and I think the wrost one definitely the Third episode.

Pros - point & click back in action,
George meet finally a new female
hilarious supporting characters (the Rome scene is my favourite)
decent playtime (about 10-12 hours at least)
Rolf Saxon voice still rocks, and you can find many sarcastic line if you try
graphics are OK

Cons - I really hate the shitty ending, which is not an ENDINg, this is a cliffhanger, and I want BS6 to countinue BS4
Nico AGAIN got another voice actress
The puzzles are really easy sometimes, sometimes incedibly hard (I think about 1-2 weeks some points)
shitty stealth and platform elements

Thanks for feedback.
I've only just started playing BS3 and finding the keyboard controls awkward so far.
Looking forward to giving BS4 a try

Finished both.
I got used to controls in 3.
With 4 it was frustrating even though they went back to point and click.
Some areas are tough to navigate.
I thought both were worth trying and will play again
