50% off New 'n' Tasty and up to 75% off Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Exoddus, and Strangers Wrath. And he still can't even.

From humble beginnings as an assembly line janitor, through a very oddventure, till a reasonably glorious hero-status. Abe has left a lasting impression on us all. And it turns out that it's been precisely 18 years since we met. How oddly time does fly, and how strangely discounts work, with 50-75% off the series for 24 hours in Abe's 18th Oddiversary

Unsettling. Peculiar. Odd. How else can you describe Abe's Oddysee, the story of corporate cruelty, and one man's stand against it all? A timeless tale in a disturbing universe and cruelly difficult gameplay continue throughout Abe's Exoddus with an even bigger, more puzzle focused challenge. Will you save your people, or save yourself? At 75% off, either way is good really.
Then, there's Stranger's Wrath HD - a story twice as weird, half as creepy, and immeasurably fun. The Stranger is a gunslingin' bounty hunter of the colorful Oddworld - full of signature humor and particular art. Live (literally) ammunition, insane mechanisms and mind-blowing landmarks await in the TPS/FPS blend, also 75% off.
Finally, you can see what difference eighteen years make in Oddworld: New'n'Tasty - a true remake of Abe's first game. Eighteen years later, the sounds, the setting and the flavor are still here - all brought up to modern platforming par and beyond. New controls, refined mechanics and restructured puzzles, and a new kind of Oddysee await - 50% off!

You can't even with Abe's 18th Oddiversary, with discounts from 50-75% extended for a total of 48 hours. The promo will last until Thursday, September 25, 4:59 PM GMT.

Grargar: Yes, they will do so just some days after you have bought the series on Steam.

Joking aside, I don't think that GOG will be accepting Munch's Oddysee in its current state, as there are still threads on the game's Steam forum (as well as various reviews), stating that the game just doesn't work.
You laugh, but they announced they're working on fixing it, which would then probably bring the game here.

OBVIOUSLY, they're just waiting for me to buy the game there.

It's a conspiracy!

Terpor: Sadly i have that game on Steam and if i remember correctly, you can launch it without Steam.
Is there any indication on Steam which games you can launch without the Steam client and which not?

There is a thread you can search for.

Not on Steam itself. You can find a list here, but it's neither official, nor 100% accurate.
How does the "New 'n' Tasty" game compare to the previous games?

Not as dark but really improves on the game play big time.

Does it work with an Xbox 360 controller?

Konrad: Woah. Spoiler alert!

Sorry, pulled the trigger a little early on this one. The promo will go live in just a few hours, so stay tuned for the front-page re-announcement. You know the drill, pretend like none of this ever happened.
Why is the New N' Tasty DLC on sale also on Steam, but not on GOG? This is apparently a cross-distributer sales promotion. I don't see why the DLC wouldn't have a discount here also.
Argh, you finally discount New N Tasty and it comes right after I ponied up for the Revolution 25th deal.

What're the odds of this game going on sale again any time soon? Should I get it while I can?

Around 1,39€ cheaper on Steam. I wonder why they ask for money from GOG cutomers... :/

Definitly strange. Steam got Oddysse for free and discounted dlc.

It does indeed. The original doesn't unfortunately.
I've never played any game from this saga, but I'm considering getting New'N'Tasty since it's Linux-compatible. Will I miss something if I dive into it without knowing anything about Abe and his backstory? (I know it's a platformer and as such I don't expect it to be story-heavy, but still...)

No it's a remake (a good one) of the original game. If you like it you'd be able to able the sequel quite happily. Different graphics (obviously) but the game play for the most part is the same. You can happily start from the start with New N Tasty, until the purists arrive atleast.
