Please I ask you not to use this thread to debate on privacy and default privacy settings. There are other threads where you can do that. This is a general thread for feedback on how to improve the feature as implemented. Suggesting new privacy options is fine but let's not argue over it.

-Suggestions-

1. Add a way to comment on other users post in the "Activity Feed". [Suggested by Me]
2. Add a report button on every post in the "Activity Feed" that submits a report automatically to GOG as we know people will abuse this. [Suggested by Me]
3. Add a way to upload a short video or GIF to the "What's up, [NAME]" form in addition to pictures. [Suggested by Me]
4. Hide the # of games, achievements, and hours played when profiles are set to private. [Suggested by Me]
5. In Galaxy be able to click on your friends name / avatar under "Friends Activity" to get to their profile. "Show All" for achievements should now also link to your profile to display all achievements for a specific game. Image Link [Suggested by Me]
6. More filtering options for achievements, profile, activity feed, etc. [Suggested by mike_cesara]
7. Add wallpapers used during sales, etc for background images. 100% achievement completion could unlock special wallpapers for the game you completed. [Suggested by Alexim]
8. Ability to change username by yourself (as that is sort of relevant to your profile now). [Suggested by Tauto]
9. Add a Wishlist tab to the profile. [Suggested by amund]
9. Option to display games as big images like in the account. [Suggested by amund]
10. Add a "Find friends" button that allows you to find people with similar game interests or allow you to search for people with a specific game for multiplayer. [Suggested by amund]
11. Make it possible to revert the setting if you removed something from the activity list. [Suggested by amund]
12. You should be able to access profiles from your friendlist as well other areas on the site (navbar friends button, chat, etc). Possibly merge https://www.gog.com/account/friends features into the profile friends tab and remove it. [Combined Suggestions by Zeogold, paladin181, and Me]
13. Expand privacy and general settings. See LINK [Suggested by Swampland]
14. Games hidden in our libraries should be hidden in our profile games list. Including achievements, milestones and play time. [Suggested by paladin181]
15. Sort options for activity feed. [Suggested by mintee]
16. A way to control what the activity feed displays: hide on/off for reviews, thresholds, achievements, etc. [Suggested by mintee]
17. Filtering option when browsing someone's game list (mutual games, operating system, multiplayer/co-op). [Suggested by mike_cesara]
18. Ability to see own profile as-if viewed by friends, or as-if viewed by unaffiliated GOG users. [Suggested by advowson]
19. Add a Gog buyer verification (like a checkmark) for people who choose to display their game reviews on their profile so other know they have actually bought the game (possibly do the same reviews on the store page). [Suggested by White_Barry]
20. Ability to edit and format activity feed post and share (or pm) a screenshot with chosen person.
(also a search field would be a helpful addition to the game tab) [Suggested by mike_cesara]
21.Ability to set a custom background/wallpaper. [Suggested by Banjo_oz]
22. The default settings are 'visible' and 'GOG friends'. They should be 'only me'. [Suggested by Lifthrasil]
23. Screenshot upload (gallery) section. [Suggested by unisol2k1]
24. Recognize line / paragraph breaks in about me section. [Suggested by Cavalary]
25. Allow profile picture option separate to regular account avatar. [Suggested by Fairfox]

-Bugs/ Issues-

1. Text overflow on "Activity Page" when users post very long forum post using FireFox Dev Edition 60.0b14. Image Link [Reported by Me]
2. The store links on the games page are broken for games that are only available in a package. [Reported by Yepoleb]
3. Game titles showed in profile mixed with 3 or more different languages. [Reported by kbnrylaec]
4. Number of owned games showed in profile mismatch with https://www.gog.com/account and number of owned games do not update in realtime. [Reported by kbnrylaec & mike_cesara]
5. BBCode from forum post does not work or display correctly. Image Link [Reported by Me]
6. People who set their profile/activity to private still show up on other people's profiles under "friends' activity". [Reported by toxicTom]
7. Chinese version of navbar showed two Activity feed in a row, and no Your profile. [Reported by kbnrylaec]
8. Current profile overview is slow, doesn't appear to be way to dismiss some cards, they should probably truncate into monthly divisions. [Reported by Darvond]
9. View profile link from wishlist dropdown (e.g. https://www.gog.com/u/mike_cesara/wishlist) redirects to https://www.gog.com/u/ (results in 404 for users that don't own the wishlist). [Reported by mike_cesara]
10. Games list is always sorted by Recently Played (you) (ie needs to save user choice). [Reported by DyNaer]
11. Activity Feed not loading (could be related to Pale Moon) [Reported by Crackpot.756]
12. Profile is not synchronized between web and Galaxy client; activity feed shows all unread on Galaxy in spite of having read on web. [Reported by Darvond]

Please use the following format when reporting a bug:
Type: Bug / Issue
Description:
Image Link or Video Link Showing The Bug (if possible)
Web Browser Name / Version # or if using Galaxy.

Note: I made this thread because I have some ideas on how to improve this feature. The others are mostly filled with complaints about privacy. This is not a complaint thread so please don't turn it into one. If you don't use the profile feature or don't care for it then simply don't comment. Thanks.

I will update this post with new suggestions and bug reports...

I think filtering by thoughts, started topics, achievements on both, profile and activity feed could work.
I copy here the messages I had written in another thread, seeing that this is more relevant:

Suggestions for new GOG Profiles wallpapers:

You can add a new section with the wallpapers of the past GOG sales, many of them have a very cool design, for example: the current Most Wanted Games Sale, the St. Patrick's Day Sale, the Halloween Sale, the Summer and Winter sales with the monsters and the others with the squirrel, the Pinata Sale, the Insomnia Sale with the sheeps and UFO etc.

Also, in addition to the normal wallpapers of the game you own, you can add a special wallpaper which unlocks when you complete all the achievements of the relative game, in order to make their completion more interesting and rewarding.
It would be handy for users to change their user name themselves instead of putting up a thread every two days and asking how they can change their title/tag user name.Unsure if this is possible. After all it is a profile thing.

Thanks. By the way what happens when you click on them? 404 or general store page?

Added: BBCode from forum post does not work or display correctly.
Type: Privacy Issue
Description:
People who set their profile/activity to private still show up on other people's profiles under "friends' activity".
The only ways to prevent this, is to set your own profile to "only me" or to unfriend those people.

Some suggestions:

1) Add a Wishlist tab to the profile.
2) Option to display games as big images like in the account.
3) Add a "Find friends" button that allows you to find people with similar game interests or allow you to search for people with a specific game for multiplayer.
4) Make it possible to revert the setting if you removed something from the activity list.

Just saying for the record, this probably isn't a good solution because you could just do the old "Inspect Element" trick and edit the CSS to remove the blur/image.

You should be able to access profiles from your friendlist. Can't do that at the moment.

Good point. But it would largely depend on how it's done. I didn't mean cover over it exactly but rather replace it with a stylish blur with text overlayed on top of that, that would show what was supposed to kind of be there, compared to having nothing at all.

So basically having a stock image with everything set the zero, achievements, the number of games, etc that is has a slight blur effect placed over it. Then default to that when the profile is set to private.

I realize I did not explain myself very clearly. Or like I said just show nothing at all, it really doesn't matter.
