sadlyrematch: That's not GOG's responsibility. Parent your kids better.
BreOl72: Funny.
That's never been said by anyone who wants to be "all the NSFW smut" gone from GOG.
Apparently, in those cases it is absolutely seen as GOG's responsibility.
In this case... I actually agree with you. Though I think that parents should be considerate of what content their child can access on the internet; it is also my belief, however naive it may be, that a child, parent, or other person, should be able to maintain a reasonable expectation that a place accessible to the general public (i.e. a place where one may anticipate anyone to be, including children - such a video game shop) is a place where others can be expected to behave with a certain amount of civility.
The distinction here then... is where what constitutes as public ends, and the private, adult, members only club begins. For GOG, it would have to be when a user begins to partake in the "GOG services." In my opinion... that is not when window shopping on the storefront, but performing actions that can only be done when logged into an account: purchasing and playing games, and using the forum.
That is to say, even if it is distasteful, I think profanity should be allowed on these forums, but people should be considerate when writing a review. The responsibility shouldn't have to fall on GOG, but it inevitably it must, for the sake of their own business: just as a waiter in a restaurant would compel those screeching profanities to cease, and ask them to leave should it continue. If it is demonstrated that what is customarily regarded as sufficiently civil is continuously being broken, customers will begin to leave. People should still have deceny and ability to restrain themselves in a public place, however...
