Could you please check in Task Manager if one or more DOSBox instances are there and report back. I think GOG community might help you. The game rocks by the way.

Actually no DOSBox is running at all in the processes, after i click "Start Game" the launcher closes and nothing runs at all.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but Galaxy "remembers" my games from Steam, Origin, etc. even though no integrations are listed (or installed). I manually deleted GOG related files in Program Files, Program Data, and Local App Data. I searched for any other places Galaxy could be storing things, but couldn't find anything.

Is Galaxy caching game data somewhere? Is it possible to clear that out? I basically want to reset Galaxy back to how it was when I first installed it.

(I'm on Windows 10, for reference)

So I replicated your issue on a notebook with Win 10 and managed to launch it, what I did:
1. downloaded offline installer file "setup_prisoner_of_ice_gog-5_(17101)"
2. installed the game in C:\Games\
3. set compatibility to Windows 7
4. run the game as administrator

Thanks dude that fixed it! What settings do you recommend for the best graphical improvements?

If you don't have any issues with aspect ratio on your device I suggest to leave all setting as they are. As for the scaling engine (normal2x by default), anything higher may look a bit blur, I prefer vanilla crispy look (normal) where all pixels are in place, normal2x however makes text and some details more distinctive.

I don't ave this here but I have it on original disc/dosbox and also know a bit how the config progrtams for games here work.

Did you try using the icon that is put on the desktop? Most times this works better than running it via the configuration tool gog seems to provide.

And you could also try changing the configuration either via the config tool gog provides with such games(shown via the start menu links) or even edit the conf files manually.

If you need help for settings that seem to work let me know and I will see what I can do to help.

I think the maker of this thread is running it through the game config program's buttons and this doesn't always work from what i've heard.

I concur this is a good game as well, but not long enough unfortunately.

I would change the setting to windowed and use whatever resolution seems best along with normal2x as the user said. But take note it will not run in the right resolution in a window if you choose direct3d as output.

And when you get the chance hit mark as solution to that user's post to mark the question you asked as solved to everyone knows you are taken care of.

I tried hq3 and i think maybe its a little smoother, but i really dont see much difference with any choice i make even with different "Graphic mode"im using DDraw right now.

I cant run GOGDOSConfig.exe from the folder and it doesnt appear in the Start Menu. Anyways I'll stop tinkering with it. I'm just gonna enjoy this good game now.

There should be on one folder a conf file, which is dosbox's configuration file. If one knows how to edit it properly you can change various things to get some more stubborn games to run. It is good you can play now though. Have fun.
