Well, i will cut it in short - i know that regional prices was made to make it "fair" and ruble prices was intended to make it more comfortable for russian customers, i'm ok with that, but...
I just taken a look at current promo and noticed somewhat disturbing picture : Lets take Project Eden game for example - its 1.50 in USD and...130 in RUB? And official exchange rate is set in Russia is 52,0343RUB per 1USD
So, price should be around 75-78RUB or something, but not even close to 130.
Exchange rate on GOG is kinda 86,666666667RUB per 1$ which was not reached even at worst moments of "Black Tuesday" this week. I understand that GOG probably lost all hope in Ruble (just as russians did) but such huge gaps is quite amazing.
Right now there is no meaning to pay in Rub on GOG except for some newer games with special prices. Its much more smart to pay via Paypal in USD using its conversion - good ratio of exchange rate fairness and stability of final price.

My guess is that GOG believed that the ruble would devaluate even further and as a result, updated its currency exchange rate 9 days ago, because they didn't want to bother updating it every once in a while. My recommendation is to keep on paying in USD, till they fix their shit.

Maybe it would be more fair to just remove it for now? As for devaluate..oh, thats up to politics. unfortunately. Totally unpredictable right now.
Paying in Rub was sure nice thing to have, but never really changed anything.
Anyway. at least thanks for GOG to allowing us to change currency we want be billed in. But best would be to show price in both.

Part of the rate might be slightly higher than a direct conversion, mostly fees you would probably incur by changing one currency to another... Some of these are up front fees that the customer see, and some of them the seller to sees.

I think i remember coming back from Korea and the currency stations to convert foreign currency, you lost like 25% or more of your money. It felt like a total ripoff.

Slight difference would be no surprise, but GOG's rate is 60% (!!!) bigger. Its not rip-off, its robbery.

In the last two weeks the lowest the value about the 20th was 0.01340 (74.62 : 1) and the highest currently was 0.01964 (50.91 : 1).

So... 130 * 0.01340 = $1.74, and 130 * 0.01964 = $2.55

There's 81 cents (32%) that fluctuated in the last 6 days for the same price...

I don't think this is an issue with GoG, had the value of the Russian currency been higher, the fluctuation would have been a lot lower...

I'm fairly certain that's Sephiroth from the Final Fantasy 7 film Advent Children. But that doesn't excuse the commentary regardless.

But yeah, it is a bit weird having that big a deviation in the exchange rate. Obviously there is very little confidence for the Russian economy right now, but if the exchange isn't properly aligned, you fall into bigger issues all together.

It's likely due to the high degree of uncertainty with the current value of the ruble. As far as I know GOG sets their prices manually, so that limits their ability to respond to large and rapid fluctuations in currency exchange rates. For most currencies this isn't an issue (so they don't need much of a margin on the exchange rates they use), but at the moment it most certainly is an issue for the ruble. As someone else already suggested for the time being you're probably better off just paying for things in USD and letting the banks handle the exchange rates (as they can respond much faster to changes, so don't need quite as large of a safety margin).

At least GoG gives you the option to pay in USD should you choose. I always pay in USD as my credit card gives me a very good exchange rate.

I think that until the current economic and diplomatic tensions with Russia are resolved, you're going to see this type of thing more and more. It could be worse though - they could force you to pay in rubles.

Let's put it this way. It would be dumb for GoG to set a price, given the recent rapid fluctuation of the Russian currency, which would put them at risk of losing money if it rapidly deflated further. To protect themselves, they had to set it's value lower. This is especially true when one can buy in dollars anyway.

Either way you win. The only exception are those whose banks give a poor exchange rate or exorbitant conversion fees. Even then that is a problem with the banks.
