Fun right off the bat!

UPDATE: The Linux version for the Toybox is now also available.

Yooka-Laylee, the delightful action/platformer starring a chatty bat and a cute chameleon, is now available for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com. Get it now to receive the neat Toybox as a free pre-order bonus, available immediately.

The world's literature is in need of some good old-fashioned saving and there are only two creatures that can pull this off: Yooka (the loveable lizard thing) and Laylee (the talkative bat)! In their grand adventure, the duo will cross paths with a cast of oddball characters, including an evil-looking duck, an entrepreneurial snake in trousers, and a certain Knight that everybody digs.

Designed as a spiritual successor to beloved platformers of yore like the Donkey Kong Country games and Banjo-Kazooie, and developed by a team consisting of several alumni of these classics, Yooka-Laylee carries many of their signature sensibilities and offbeat humor. You will explore vast and beautiful worlds, combine the duo's unique powers, and overcome imaginative puzzles and platforming challenges, trying to stop Capital B's malevolent plans. Scooping up the crazy collectibles scattered all over the place might be a good start in that direction.

Pre-order Yooka-Laylee and prepare to spread colorful mischief across more than five worlds full of platforming goodness, DRM-free on GOG.com. Or crank the cuteness factor up to eleven with the Deluxe Edition upgrade, which includes the soundtrack and a wonderful artbook.
Get the game now to receive the Toybox as a free pre-order bonus, available to play immediately.

Gorgeous. I expect to be in a delirious nostalgic haze of N64 flashbacks for the entire playthrough.

GOG.com: Discover epic boss fights, mine cart challenges, co-op mode, unique multiplayer games and more!
I'm willing to bet that at least half of these features will be missing from the gog version. ;P
That's all we get today: a pre-order? Gee, thanks, GOG.
From what children age this game is recommended?

Hory shizzballs, that's expensive! Kids paper rounds must be bloody good pay rate these days ;p

Wait, manuals are now extras!?
Is it April 1st already? o0

i want to give playtonic money, but...really?

a "pre-order bonus?"

and the manual is ONLY in the special edition?

who thinks this stuff up?
Never mind. Re-read the notes and said it's a PO bonus. Now waiting patiently for my KS backer key so I can get the toybox (and hope the free DLC for all backers isn't steam only)

Still a ways away, but then again some of stuff I'm looking forward to were delayed until next year.
OUCH!

Another overpriced (regionally), overmarketed (half the fucking page) "game" on GOG...

Hurray, I'll gladly (try to) ignore it...

Yooka-Laylee Digital Deluxe is the ultimate platforming package, including an exclusive digital manual and art book, plus the game's incredible soundtrack!

rodrolliv: I'm of the opinion that the manual should be included along the game, and not as DLC upgrade.
That must be some kind of communication error. Who would be so dumb to make the manual of a game an dlc/deluxe upgrade :P

HypersomniacLive: The digital manual is part of the deluxe upgrade? On top of the regional pricing? Seriously?
Ha ha, the hell with that. If they could charge you to watch the trailer video they probably would...
If I had an N64 instead of a PS1 when growing up I might've taken an interest to 3D platformers.

Ridiculous that the manual is DLC. I guess you'll just have to hit random buttons until you figure out the controls.

Is the reason you don't mention the manual being exclusive to the "Digital Deluxe Edition" in this post, when you list the other material it contains, because you know in your heart that that's an awful idea?

(I assume there will be in-game button prompts and tutorials, but still...)

Charging for the manual, so you know how to play the game, reminds me of this excerpt from a Seinfeld episode, when David Puddy charges Jerry extra for the keys to his new car, lol
