UPDATE:
Due to entirely unforeseen circumstances, the release date for Worms World Party Remastered has been delayed. Here's the official word from Team 17, and stay tuned for more info right here and on Twitter:

[i]Hello Wormers,

During final testing for today's release of the game, our QA team discovered a critical bug buried deep in the game's code. No one at Team17 is happy releasing the game with this bug in place. We'll be working our prods off to get this fixed and on sale as soon as possible. We’ll be providing updates via @WormsTeam17 on Twitter whenever they become available.

Thanks guys,

MT17

What happened to Worms facebook competition results?

Elmofongo: "slaps my face"

And here I thought this game was considered the best :P

And I could have sworn we had Armaggedon.

And I just did my research World Party is an expanded version of Armaggedon?

Matruchus: I really don't know. Never heard of WWP till today. Armaggedon was the game more or less everybody I knew played to death. It was the ultimate Worms game with most weapons, weapon customization, etc.
Well as I said this game is an expanded version of Armaggedon with even more stuff.

I don't know really. Worms wiki says otherwise: http://worms2d.info/WA_vs_WWP

Meh...
Always nice to see something new coming to GOG but I'll say basically the same thing I did with Grim Fandango Remastered... I just recently got a great deal on a used physical copy of the original, so I probably won't be interested in this unless they port it to Linux AND it's on sale for $5 or less.

(Since Microsoft no longer does updates for the versions of Windows I paid for, my Windows gaming PCs are airgapped and the Galaxy launcher crashes inside Wine, so that's not an incentive to buy WWP remastered. In Grim Fandango's case, it's already on Linux but there's no "original data files for the copy of ResidualVM on your non-Android ARM Linux device" extra.)

Another one here who thought that Armageddon was the best Worms game.. At least back then, Armageddon was my favourite, difficult to recall how many hours i sank in this game trying to beat my father (or the opposite!).. As for the remaster, i don't think It could make me spend my money on it..

ps. 60fps in a Worms game? Yep, as if we needed it...
FINALLY! The one I have been waiting for! Got this back in the day, and all I can say is my college group-mates and I had a blast playing it. I have the original WWP and occasionally play it solo now and then, but this is a game MEANT to be played against other players in a party-style gathering.

FYI - if the remastered version is like the original version it will include HOTSEAT competitive play, the best kind there is! :-)
I've always consider WWP as my favourite Worms game. Had physical disc somewhere but lost it during the years. Feels great now that it's coming to GOG.. Wishlisted for now.
I was more of a fan of Armageddon, but I still have this one on Playstation. Awesome game, and the remaster looks swell. :D

Something I've always wondered: are the Worms games any good and interesting at all as single-player games? I have this feeling most fans like it mostly for two-player hotseat, or other multiplayer, modes. I have played some of the Worms games quickly at some point, didn't get hooked then. IIRC, it felt pointless to play alone.

That's the feeling when I read a review of some game which suggests you should really play it co-op or against your friend because only then the game really shines, and I think "Ok apparently the single-player part is not that great reason to buy the game, and I don't want to have to depend on the availability and interest of my friends to play my games". If I want to play some game now, I don't want to have to depend whether some friend of mine feels exactly the same at the exact same moment.

The 'best' Worms game was probably the one that you personally played the most (which was probably the one you bought first).

For me that's "Worms 2", which is probably still the game I've spent the most online gaming hours playing (despite never being especially great at the game) -- due in no small part to the online community at the time, who were almost unfailingly friendly and courteous*.

I bought Armageddon when it came out, but I disliked a lot of the changes, and went back to W2. WWP seemed like a definite improvement on WA, but I think it crashed a lot on my PC, so I never spent much time with it.

(*) Unlike the majority of online gaming communities I've encountered since, which is one of the biggest reasons that I've spent very little time playing online games in subsequent years. I've heard some voice-chat snippets from recordings of online play in some more recent games which have pretty much left me sickened. Worms 2 community, I miss you: You were the way that online gaming should have remained, and I am fearful that the new WWP experience will be nothing like it...

I'm super stoked for this one, as I was a big early Worms fan (1 to World Party, played them all, loved them all). Honestly, I always thought World Party was better than Armageddon, and as far as nostalgia neither was the one I played the most or during a "childhood" phase (that honour goes to the awesome Worms 2, which I also own on GOG), so I'm not biased towards Armageddon, like most seem to be, nor Worms World Party. From my perspective, nostalgia notwithsanding, Armageddon is great, alright, but Worms World Party expanded on that greatness and added a lot of stuff without getting rid of what made the previous title so damn good.

So, please, I know there's going to be a lot of "yeah, it's cool, but it's not Armageddon, THE BEST WORMS GAME EVER!", but try and look at this without the nostalgia rose-tinted glasses and see things for what they are: both games are great, and at least we're getting one of them (they're basically the same game, WWP basically expands on Armageddon, so we're actually getting the full package, kind of 'Armageddon 2.0').

I'll definitely buy it, and I might even consider pre-ordering just to show support to GOG and Team17.
wishlist this one.... love me some worms and have some form on just about every system I've owned in the last 10 years at least...

I would say the best comparison is that the Worms games are like a game of Checkers/Chess.

But CHAOTIC AND EXTREME.

For example:

I shoot a rocket a at worm, the worm was standing near a fire can and blows up and fire all over the place than the fire spreads to the mines and blows up 3 worms sky high and than into the water to drown.

There are alot of things that could happen with just one shot.
I played a lot of local multiplayer of this one back in the day. I don't see myself enjoying Worms now but I might get it for old time's sake. :)
