Once you become a Fatebinder, you will hold the power to shape the lives of thousands with your decisions. Will you act as an unquestioning instrument of your lord's justice or will you find other ways of bringing order to this broken world? Depending on your choices, certain problems can be overcome with reason or coercion, but for those who defy you, the real-time-with-pause battles will decide the victor.

killum101: They did not start making the game when they announced it.
So you say. Forgive me for not taking your word for it. All I know is, the last RPG I know of that was released about a year after being announced was Dragon Age 2, and it was a complete mess that definitely didn't spend enough time in development. I don't think Tyranny will be that bad, and the concept is really interesting, but I have enough doubts to refuse to pre-order this, especially since this game is actually more expensive than PoE.

And that makes the pre-order exclusives thing pretty annoying.
What a promising RPG, it looks amazing! Thanks GOG :)
Seems many people don't like pre=ordering and I have to say I agree. *Bonuses* rarely add xtra content, usually they aren't anything but merchandise. Hot air in a balloon. Personally I'd rather pay a little xtra for a great game.

I like Pillars of Eternity. I have Tyranny on my wishlist. I'll wait.
Bought the Overlord edition. Now comes the hard part though: The Waiting!

Starmaker: I was massively disappoint when I found out you play an underling in this game, not the overlord. Still, out of Obsidian/inXile games of the post-kickstarter era, this looks the most interesting.

("exclusive" is such a Shkreli word I can't even)

(I love how magic is color-coded in this game)

The Overlord edition link has an extra space and is broken.
I don't know where you got that from, but you don't play as some underling you play as a "Lieutenant" as it were. They talked about it in the very first dev blog. Quote "We didn’t want you to be the ‘errand girl of Evil’. If you were just a grunt or a lackey, your ability to influence or change the world would be limited, and your responsibility for the fact that evil won would be reduced."

IAmSinistar: I suppose I should play Pillars of Eternity first to see if I even like how they do these games. Not that it seems all that different from a dozen other Diablo-style loot-em-ups.
avatar
Punkoinyc: This is not a diablo style game. It's inspired by infinity engine games like Baldur's Gate, Torment, etc.
You control several characters at a time and there's a lot of dialogue.

IAmSinistar: Ah, thanks. It had seemed from the screenshots to be an isometric action RPG. Glad to hear there is more to it.
You might have been mixing up Pillars of Eternity and Path of Exile. Both are often abbreviated "PoE".

Multiple editions = no interest.
I hate this practice and I will certainly not support any product that uses it.
It's not aimed against the game or the developer, but the multiple editions thing needs to die out.

Glad to see this interesting game released, but with that price point also unnecessary expensive right at the release date.
I guess publisher takes quite a cut from this revenue.

I definitely want the best version, but I won´t pay 74 Euro for that, I will wait for a hefty discount.

What´s the point of this? Working hard on a game, than releasing it overpriced at the beginning, loosing many sales, which will come only later, when discounts hits in, resulting in publisher often saying game "didn´t sell well."

Pre-order? No, thank you.
Multiple editions? No, thank you.
Looks like a rushed game, possibly copy-paste from PoE in many aspects, very probably with tons of bugs and missing features on day-one.
I really don't like how they handled PoE and this time it looks even worse at the moment. I will be watching reviews when it comes out.
First of all, I like Obsidian Entertainment and I believe they are a company pushing RPG world forward. And for this reason alone I will keep buying all their games. But...

This "edition" practice is annoying. I cant believe I am going to say this but it would be much better to make a base game and put all others as DLCs. Soundtracks, artworks, etc. I would still prefer them being included for free as a normal goodies like most games on GOG but selling them as "editions" is much much worse.

Also, Pillars of Eternity was very buggy when it came out. I remember we were playing it at friends house and after 8 hours we were so annoyed that we stopped it and started playing Baldur's Gate on LAN. I hope Tyranny wont share the same fate.

They did fix the bugs - I only played it recently, even though I was a backer - didn't have fitting hardware. So in theory, at least, building it on the same engine / code base should help.

I was very confused, first I read multiple endings = no interest. I thought what is the problem with that? :P

Why is it so annoying with multiple editions? Multiple models of any products or service is very common and in a modern society I think it's generally accepted as a way that things are prosperous, filling the needs of many different individuals. If you just want to the game, buy the cheapest one otherwise wait for a sale if you think the others are too expensive in case you want something very specific from them.

Niggles: Did this have a kickstarter? if not, there should be no issues with upgrades (Pillars was kickstarted and because of the backer rewards structure and its relevance to sales here.... upgrading is ****ed up)...or i wouldnt have thought so...

FWIW i think this is Paradox bullshit. Although i thought Obsidian was supposed to be self published on here??
Then why does Steam have upgrade options for Pillars?
Ah, another overpriced release version. Will wait for price drop. And with Paradox you can expect several dlc which aren't covered with the high game price.

Though I love that you are the evil guy in this game. It gets boring that in every game you have to play a hero since in reality evil always triumphs.
