The_SoV: I can't understand how will player get new cards in this game. Is this will be like buying new boosters for in-game currency or strictly folowed by storyline? Another question - will the player be able to play "skirmishes" with the deck he has?(I know, I can play GWENT with training bots, but I don't want to)

Thank you all for answers in advance!
It seems that cards are tied to in-game events. So you probably meet people that will join your army (aka deck), gather resources to buy stuff to your deck and so on.
Oh would you look at that: https://i.imgur.com/1rNfWTu.png

Can we stop with the hyperbole now when it comes to this game?

Linko90: This was a mistake on the game card. I can confirm Thronebreaker will be DRM-Free with offline installers.

:)
Never doubted it for a second, thanks for clarify and laying to rest a lot of hyperbole that exist around here surrounding this game.

Just for those steam fanboys who downvoted me, and who can't read a post I will highlight the key part of the release "
Thronebreaker comes with awesome free bonus items, including the official Thronebreaker soundtrack, the digital artbook for GWENT, plus premium kegs, titles, and avatars for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. "

Or to translate: "Gwent, Gwent, galaxy, Gwent, online only client, Gwent, galaxy".

Mind you if your stupid enough to think witcher 3 was anything else then very average, go ahead, chick your cash at them.
i did not expect this to be £24. this is supposed to be a mini-game. still, i expect this to be free with the pre-order of cyberpunk so i'll pass.

Zoidberg: MORE gwent?

FFS, pass!

Linko90: If you're not into Gwent, Thronebreaker comes with 'Story mode' which allows you to skip the battles and focus on the story.
It's not being into card-based fighting. It's not being into and being associated with an exploitative, bad-for-consumers, harmful-to-people-it-preys-on business model.
I'M IN... I'M IN... I'M IN... I'M IN...

The_SoV: I can't understand how will player get new cards in this game. Is this will be like buying new boosters for in-game currency or strictly followed by storyline?
avatar
mdoko: It will be strictly through the story. This is stated on the game card: "Each card represents an entity in the game — characters players interact with during open world exploration can become on-hand assets, deployable during battle."

Another question - will the player be able to play "skirmishes" with the deck he has?(I know, I can play GWENT with training bots, but I don't want to)
avatar
mdoko: That would be cool!
Damn! Guess, I'll pass then. I hoped it would be like in Marvel Trading Card Game - the feature of buying booster packs for in-game currency was awesome. And it could be kinda "encyclopedia" for the core GWENT game - in that case, I could get some skills. And not so attractive price as a bonus.... :/

Believe me, if you want to get Gwent skills, just play Gwent. It's amazingly F2P friendly - without exaggeration, you can be among top players without spending a single cent.

shmerl: Unity game and no Linux support. Too bad CDPR, too bad. You can't even excuse it with difficulty of porting this time. And missing Galaxy is no excuse either since:

avatar
Linko90: Thronebreaker does not require galaxy and supports offline installers. Something you're very passionate about it.

shmerl:
I´d guess (or hope) that they want to focus on a single platform at first. Consoles won´t get Thronebreaker or Homecoming right from the start as well.

Hoping it´ll get multiplatform on here ASAP.

RadonGOG: Hoping it´ll get multiplatform on here ASAP.
Don't hold your breath. CDPR does not care about GNU/Linux at all. Remember how they promised GNU/Linux version of Galaxy while it was still in alpha? Yeah, somehow Galaxy is still Win & Mac only.
Are you planning to release box edition of the game?

The thing is - I don't want to be always connected online to play game. Not that I can't - sometimes it's just uncomfortable. Next part - I have to spend over 50-100 hours just to build a good deck. I don't want to spend this amount of time on Gwent, cause I have another games, which are more interesting AT THIS MOMENT. And f2p model implies, that I have to spend more time than I want to. I played Hearthstone - I know, what I'm saying. I love The Witcher universe, but I don't like f2p projects - I would better pay once and get some impression from the game than I would grind hard to get some part of it.(I just don't like games-services). At this time I'm considering Gwent as relaxing entertainment game after work(like ETS 2 :) ) I don't need competitive part.
So, no, I don't want play Gwent. At least, before it is unreleased.(also I heard, CDPR want to change some mechanics in the future)
Casting my vote for Linux here, if it's done in Unity it should be much easier to bring to other platforms than say Witcher 3.

Looks like it's going to be a great game, I like the art style.

No, digital only.
