I thought that "The Amazing American Circus" was reference to American contemporary politics and not an actual circus. I'm confused.

Shit, I only opened the thread to make a "I thought it's a DLC for that Realpolitiks game" joke. I should have known that even with just two comments someone would have beat me to it.
Premise looks interesting and unique, will wait for a full release.
Looks interesting
Given the richness and complexity of circus life I'm amazed how there are so very few circus-themed games in videogame history.
Personally I can only remember three from the old days:

After watching the game trailer I'm still curious why Werewolves, Sasquatches, Ghosts and Deep Ones are part of the circus audience, though :|
Nice, wishlisted.
For a game that's supposed to be about circus it looks so damn boring.

Unless they also put the dark side of circus in the management as well.
Ah, the American Circus. A vast and storied history of taking:

◘ The mentally unwell
◘ Anyone who was visually disfigured
◘ Anyone who was considered a freak otherwise, by talent or lack thereof
◘ Any animal, irregardless of specific care or needs of environs or diet
◘ Absolutely no regard for the health & safety of goers or staff

And subjecting them all to various abuses, conditions, & inhumanities.

So that aside, why should I feign interest in what appears to be a card game that entirely lacks the colour & flourish of the circus? Seriously, why does this look like it could display in under 256 colours?

Probably because modern cultural stigma has painted the circus as a vile place. From the hokey podunk carnivals with rickety rides to the whipping and abuse of lions from the B&B shows. And the more cynical side of me says that circuses were completely outmoded when electronic entertainment came to be. After all, why go to the circus to see a bearded woman when there's a weird man on the television about to fight some pepper shaker robots?

Good points.
I don't know how it was in the States, but in Europe circuses remained quite popular attractions until the early 21st century. Mostly as shows for kids.

Still my idea is that for many years circus management worked a bit like a "mercenary company" of old (travelling from land to land, scanning for the richer villages, recruiting new artists, managing food and supplies, etc).
I'd love to play a game similar to Battle Brothers, but with clowns, amazons, animal tamers, magicians, etc etc... I don't think I'll have much luck, though :P
Looks great. Wishlisted.

With these three points you're mixing up sideshows / freakshows and the circus itself. NOT the same thing though there is overlap in when and where they would show up.

Additionally, freakshows are still going - but now for the benefit of the "freaks" and often as a means to inform before entertainment / astonishment / gawking - with an additional sideline in more extreme performances (such as angle grinders, extreme illusion and the likes.
Love the style and idea of this game. Circus management games should be more of a thing.
