The infectious commitment to life.

Shardlight, the post-apocalyptic adventure of a young woman desperately looking to cure herself, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

Amy was five when the bombs dropped. This broken, severely oppressed, and hopelessly depressed world is all she knows. Now, twenty years after the catastrophe, people are still dying in the streets stricken by poverty and disease, while the corrupt aristocrats control the regulation of the cure in exchange for cheap labor and obedience.

Amy is sick herself but she is not about to go out with a whimper. She'd rather rattle the shaky foundations of a government that has people like her slaving away for a chance at a vaccination. All around her, among the ruins of what humanity once was, people are scavenging for scraps of a better tomorrow that seems to keep moving further and further out of reach. But not Amy. She is determined to fight for her life, even if she has to pay the ultimate price.

Point'n'click at the bowels of a terminally ill world and find a cure to your ailment in Shardlight, DRM-free on GOG.com. If you have the bonus fevers, go ahead and grab Shardlight - Special Edition, which includes the game's OST, voice-over outtakes, a concept art gallery, wallpapers, and other delicious goodies, or opt to upgrade later. The 10% launch discount will last until March 15, 4:59 PM GMT.
Looks good, wishlisted.
Insta buy... Own all wadjet eye games and not one of these games was disappointing. Really looking forward to shardlight.
Didn't even know there was a new Wadjet Eye game coming out. Definitely interested in this.
The system requirements only mention the Windows platform. Will there be a Linux version as well? It looks like an AGS game, so it shouldn't be too difficult to do, right?
Great release!!! I saw it in their website just after I finished Technobabylon (btw I see that several folks haven't played it yet - GO PLAY THE #$@@ MASTERPIECE ALREADY!!!!!!!!! NO TALKING, JUST PLAY!) and I'm eagerly waiting for it's release on GOG. I generally don't pre-order games and while i'm convinced about the quality of the game, this won't change the fact that.. well, i don't pre-order games ('duh). :)

I have one question though: will there be a standard edition without all the extras? I would prefer to buy that instead, because I'm a little tight (financially speaking) at the moment.. :)

MarkoH01: I could not find anything on their web site but is this really developed by Wadjet Eye or are they just publishing the game (like many before)? I know that WE stands for quality but I always liked the ones they made themselves even a bit more.

davelgil: Hi! Dave of Wadjet here coming out of lurker mode to answer some questions!

Shardlight was written and designed by our in-house designer, Francisco Gonzalez. The art was made by our in-house artist, Ben Chandler. The music was composed by freelancer Nathaniel Chambers (who is also known for his work on Primordia). I took more of a producer/supervisor role. So to answer your question, it *is* a "Wadjet Eye" game, but not a "Dave Gilbert" game.

Hope that helps!

-Dave
Hi Dave,

it is so nice to see you here. I really love Wadjet Eye games and I was overwhelmed with Blackwell. I did write you an e-mail a long time ago to express my feelings and to show my appreciation. Unfortunately you did not answer but I guess there was just too much work for you to do so you did not have the time. So I tell you this way: keep up the great work your little studio is doing. As it was said in this thread before Wadjet Eye really stands for great adventures and you are one of the reason they are still not dead :)

The way I understood (and the way it is written on WE website) the special edition will only be available as long as it is a pre-order. After release the special features won't be included anymore.

Ugh, not again. I am still bummed that they did that with Blackwell Epiphany and haven't offered those later.

Again? Really?

I asked about this specifically, but nobody from Wadjet Eye answered my question.
As much as I love their games, I'm deeply disappointed with this trend that both Wadjet Eye and GOG seem to embrace.

Ask your questions to Dave Gilbert on ask.fm. ;)

Apparently, he does plan to have the soundtrack released at some point (he actually promised it 29 days ago, to be precise.)

I asked him right here yesterday, and he didn't respond even though he's been online a few times since then.

If the extras are pre-order exclusive, the announcement should clearly state so. Of course that wouldn't change the fact that this is becoming a worrisome trend if this edition, or the extras, won't be available after release. Which is what the announcement on their own site states.

This isn't really my area, so don't take this as fact, but my understanding is that the bonus content is included free with the pre-order, and will then be available for purchase separately after the game launches. Steam, at least, has it listed as DLC which will be available for purchase (note that Steam does not offer a pre-order) I'm not sure if GOG will do the same.

Yes. The pre-order bonuses aren't an "exclusive" per se. They are only available for free during the pre-order period. If you want them after the fact, then you have to pay $5. And yes, they will be available on GOG.
Yay, Dave Gilbert is now amber/orange!!!
Man, I love the new orange. A rare positive feature added to GOG's forums.

Also thanks @ davelgil, great to know. That's the way to do it, and completely fair to everybody.

Holy crap. I'm orange!
