Master of puppets.

Shadows: Awakening is now available for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% discount plus the game's Soundtrack and Artbook as pre-order bonuses.
Return to the world of the Heretic Kingdoms as the Devourer, a demon able to consume and control the souls of long-dead heroes for his own purposes. As you conquer the dungeons of this dark isometric action/RPG, a fateful choice will emerge: will you use your formidable powers to prevent the world from coming undone, or will you facilitate its downfall?

nightcraw1er.488: Really, where is your evidence for that? I was posted a link during the sale (winter possibly) when it was on special, stating that only purchasers of the game up to a certain date would get this one for free. Will see if I can find the post. As I would have brought it then as it was half the price of now even with discount.
avatar
GR00T: There's an old post here that seems to indicate all GOG owners of Kingdoms would get the game. However, I seem to recall there being a cut-off date for that as well.
As I understand, there was discount around that time and gog poorly worded the annoucement about discount and upcomming upgrade.
avatar
Matruchus: As for the post you mentioned its not an old post its the game announcement.
Just to be pedantic, no it's not. If you follow the link I posted, it's a post by Fables that's answering a question in a thread created by Geralt_of_Rivia where he's wondering about the status of Heretic Kingdoms. ;)

The only thing I can seem to find is an announcement about a price drop and free DLC for existing owners at that time. Nothing about the upcoming 'Awakening' game.

But yeah, I do seem to remember something about it, but I'll be damned if I can track down the thread or a post now.

Right so here is my post from just a few months back when the game was on sale:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/shadows_heretic_kingdoms_sequel

This is the post where GOG stated the product would be free for people who purchased the game up to that point:
https://www.gog.com/forum/heretic_kingdoms_series/shadows_heretic_kingdoms_book_ii_will_be_a_separate_product_soon

And here is GOG completely stating something different:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/status_of_shadows_heretic_kingdoms_answer_from_gog_needed/page1

I for one am sure not touching this or any other product in the set until clear information is given, and judging by the previous drama, several years after a full product has been released.

Okay, I see what you're saying, but I was referring to the actual post I linked to. I see Fables just took the the wording of the Steam announcement and did a copy paste.

Alexim: Thanks! Vikings - The Wolves of Midgard shares the same universe or is totally unrelated? And Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms how it fits into the continuity?
I've not got Vikings - The Wolves of Midgard (yet!) but as far as I can tell from the store page it is set in a different universe.

As for Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms it is set in the same universe as the first game (Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition) but doesn't directly connect to it story wise although if you play through it (HK:TI) you get an idea of the lore , etc. Personally I really enjoyed both games and am looking forward to Shadows: Awakening which hopefully will be a bigger, better, more complete version of S:HK.

paladin181: So... When will I know if I need to buy this or not, since I own Heretic Kingdoms and Inquisition?
As I read it, if you bought the game before the 24th July, 2017, you will be eligible for the free update;

So, we should get Shadows: Awakening in our accounts soon but it's always good idea to hit
https://www.gog.com/account/refresh in any case. I got mine from gift on Mar 7, 2015 anyway. ;p

Also, I hope we meet Alita from first game, at least as npc somewhere. ;p

It looks beautiful! ^_^
S:HK had some promise and nice ideas, but it was clunky and often tedious to play. Since they made a whole new engine ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/256030/discussions/0/3211505894124164263/ ), maybe they've had a chance to rework and improve some other things. A more fluid execution of the same ideas and a better crafting system could go a pretty long way.

I guess I'll find out without having to pay extra. I remembered knowing S:HK was unfinished and did not feel comfortable shelling out $30 when I saw this new title, but now that it's clear that we already own it, I'm satisfied and hoping for good things. GOG should have featured this information prominently in the announcement.

Symphony8: I read the title as Paster of Muppets. I imagined a totally different game.

GR00T: Look up the movie 'The Happy Time Murders' if you want to really blow your mind with respect to Muppets. May be NSFW if you find the trailer.
*watches trailer* Ok. My childhood has officially been ruined.
Just a heads up. I acquired S:HK after July 2017 and I'm still getting free upgrade. Thank you, gog support!

I bought S:HK just in the beginning of July 2017. I have not received S:A till now. Does anyone know that the process is still going on and I need to wait? Or the Poles appointed me a loser :)

Looking at the game page it says the game will be ready for download on 31st August so I'm guessing that will be when we get the game added to our accounts. Apart from Linko90's post earlier in this thread, I too have not heard anything official but I'm sure it's all in hand :)

If it works like the pre-order, there should be a placeholder entry in your library though. If that's not in Loger13's library yet, I'd suggest it's just a matter of GOG rolling it out in waves.

@Loger13: yeah, I'd wait a few more days (not sure if anything will happen over the weekend, so give it some time into next week). See if anything shows up then.

I also imagined this as a pre-order, but it is not in my library.
So I'll wait too. We'll see.
