I didn't like Shadow Warrior 1 a lot but part 2 was one of my favorite games of 2016, so there is indeed hope.

Many things, but mainly that it has soulless randomly-generated levels which totally wreck the atmosphere and immersion.

Shadow Warrior 1 which you didn't like, is actually a great game, of which SW2 is a vast downgrade from. SW2 was awful.

SW3 looks like another trainwreck that is somehow even worse than SW2 was.

SW1 was gritty and dark and had a mature and foreboding atmosphere (despite Lo Wang's silly crass comments).

Yet they made SW3 to be bright and colorful and look like a My Little Pony cartoon, for some inexplicable reason.

All they had to do to make SW3 be great would have been to make a real sequel to SW1, with the same gritty, foreboding tone & gameplay style as SW1 has. Not sure why they didn't do that.

The biggest problem I have with Shadow Warrior 2 is that it's a long game only because it keeps sending you back to the same areas over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, which quickly becomes monotonous and boring, at least to me. YMMV. Also, in the game from 2013, your sidekick was a decent character, but the sidekick you have in Shadow Warrior 2 was unbearably obnoxious. Add in the uninspired procedural level generation and worse story, and Shadow Warrior 2 is vastly inferior to the one from 2013.

I'm sure the game will be great fun. BUT! I hate when a game puts up a weapon you cant even get in the game as a pre order bonus... Why is this still a thing? They did this with the second game with the Chainsaw Katana.

Shadow Warrior 2 is (for me) one of the best games ever. It made me laugh so much, and the gunplay was fast and precise, the levels pure fun! The weapons also made me want to experiment with different playstyles.

I will buy this for sure!

I love Shadow Warrior 1 and 2. Fingers crossed they captured the same magic with Shadow Warrior 3.

Really ? So they added that back in in a patch or something? I ask as a Chainsaw Katana does exist in Shadow Warriors 2 atleast in the GOG version unsure about Steams or console versions as I got the second game after like way after preorder was talked about so I never knew a chainsaw Katana was a thing that was cut when one can get one in game without preorder .. unless this is like a preorder''get early'' or ''special weapon skin'' I can only assume it was patched in later on for some reason

Why would that be a thing? I mean seriously the ''loyality discount'' on game ip buying has gone largely the way of the dodo quite some time ago .. As very few companies offer such a discount anymore outside of a game companies own website for obvious reasons on that last one
Just looked it up while the preorder weapon is different it looks like its just a special skin color abs look but the same as the in game one otherwise it seems that enemy's can drop in game edit also if anyone wants to accuse me of mods I legit don't use mods in my games even ones famous for using mods .. Just encase someone tried to say thats it

Nope, I wouldn’t buy. I did pre order 2, but it was such a let down. A good engine, but randomised levels that all end up looking the same, no story, no humour, borderlands loot system with weapons that didn’t matter. Shame as the first new series one was great, handcrafted levels, secrets, real character building, humour, and a really good story for a shooter.

I liked 1. I hated 2 (the movement and the shootign were great, but the "loot" part, the flat humor and the repetitive side quests made it extremely dull, so much wasted potential).

This one seems on the right track, if Flying Wild Hog played it right we might get something on par with Doom Eternal.

I'll probably pick this up just so I don't miss the pre-order exclusive but I wish Lo Wang were more like he was in the original Shadow Warrior.

Haha. I don't know why the trailer reminded me of a page advertising Spawn: The Eternal for Sony's PSX in the mythical videogame magazine GamePro. I don't remember the issue number, but I remember the year (1998). I never had a PSX because I was a Nintendo fan. And at that time it wasn't very common to see ''N'' advertising with ''GORE''. Anyway, the advertisement showed a forcibly torn off arm and the slogan: ''This is your best weapon. Especially when it belongs to the other guy''. I remember it well because at my age it had a big impact on me. Now, that's a very common thing to see. Now I remember the issue of GamePro magazine had Resident Evil 2 on the cover. It was my first video game magazine in full English. Haha, what a time those were.

Well, speaking of the video game. I have to say that it looks amazing. And I really liked the second part of this franchise, to be honest. To the wish list. Thanks, GOG!
