SumofOne: i have the first Sam & Max. Is this a renewed version of the second one that was released in episodes back in the day?
Vainamoinen: Correct, the first Telltale "Season" .
VanishedOne: I'm wondering about the Venn diagram of people who like Sam & Max, people who prioritise inoffensiveness in comedy, people who believe voice actors should be the same races as their characters, and people who can find no other reason to dislike Bosco's portrayal of a black American.
Vainamoinen: Ohhh anti-PC drama. How I missed this shit. Didn't the GOG mods outlaw hyperbolic politicized outrage some years ago?
I liked Joey Camen as Bosco, and I personally wouldn't have taken offense by just leaving his voice in. Then again, I'm not African American. I wouldn't have to listen to stereotypical speech patterns of my people being parodied by some white guy who probably finds this particular voiceover work of his rather icky 14 years later. Granted, Camen's in Fallout 76 and in Devil May Cry 5, he doesn't need validation or exposure from this early and rather lower budgeted game any more as well. I guess he's pretty OK with it.
MarianFA: I had to add the game to my cart first, and then the discount was applied.
Vainamoinen: Thanks, I'm in. ;)
MarkoH01: Now we finally know who bought the Sam and Max license and I am sure if this runs well we can expect the other two seasons as well. Watching the trailer the remastering lools really nice.
Vainamoinen: That seems to be the plan judging from their website.

I felt that Americans are getting ridiculous at this "Voice acting must match the race" thing. Even Japanese people already ridiculed this with how absurd it was. For example there's black characters in anime that was voiced by Japanese voice actors because finding African Japanese (that already very rare in Japan) that work as professional voice actor is almost or pretty much impossible. This also bring a question, if a show dubbed for other language do they need to hire someone with the same race as well?
I mean if they really want to push that kind ideology then the next thing they do is to use real dog and rabbit to voice Sam and Max.
This also remind me of hypocrisy of Hollywood. While they busy championing African American actresses and actors but they also royally shit on Asian American actors and actresses. Putting them in shitty stereotypical roles, that includes romance option. Asian females depicted as nothing more than a doormat housewife or trophy wife and Asian males in shit role and not worth it as romantic option. Even the director for the movie "Romeo Must Die" changed the ending because he felt that "Audience don't feel comfortable it if there's romance between Asian guy with black girl" I was like "holy shit man seriously? what kind of 1900s Jim Crow stone you crawled out from? Fucking racist bastard" and before some of you guys point out about Glenn in the Walking Dead it's still an exception because the writers knew all the characters are disposable and it's only one show.
Sorry for my rant. But I felt that this ridiculousness reaching to the point that a cartoony game like Sam and Max sounds SANE.
