Enebias: Besides, seeing this written by a GOG community member I personally know and respect doubles the effect.

Looks great, will get it in a couple days.
Is there any chance to see Phantom Doctrine available on Mac OS?...
Please, make it happen, that'd be an INSTABUY! :)

Thanks,

There are no such plans for now but never say never.
This is a game to have at all costs: achievements, Italian language (which many of the most famous developers inexplicably ignore), a fascinating story and a game system that improves the already excellent Hard West.
I can't wait to play it!
If you still have doubts, here is walkthrough that shows intro, character creation and first mission (SPOILERS!!!) with interesting commentaries: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vgi5tTrQmGI

All I can say: game have VERY interesting gameplay mechanics!

That's too bad... Thanks for your answer anyway, I'm sure the Mac community would love to play this game on recent models.

By the way, any thoughts about Linux? :)

The same as with Mac, I'm afraid.

Anyway, just wanted to say that I'm really amazed by the positive feedback we've been getting so far. The GOG community is of course very dear to me personally, so I'm particularly happy about and grateful for the comments you guys have been leaving here. Cheers!
Looking forward to this. This and Phoenix Point have been the big 2 from this genre I've been wanting.

Great video! I never pre-order games, but this definitely looks like a day 1 purchase if the reviews are decent.

I went out on a limb here and pre-ordered for the following reasons:

- XCOM style gameplay
- 1960s spy setting + conspiracies
- Controller support
- GOG release at launch
- GOG at No. 1 spot in trailers (Gotta support that, right?)
- Full galaxy support incl. achievements
- Very reasonable price (around 27€ if one considers GOG's fair pricing policy)
- Sweet pre-order bonus
- Interesting gameplay previews

To sum it up, I really felt like supporting the devs with my purchase. As usual I'll be waiting at least a few months (probably longer, as I'm still pretty busy playing a few other titles) before beginning my playthrough.

A macOS version would be really sweet though.

Unless there has been a very recent change of mind on Creative Forge's end it should still be the 80s (1983, to be exact)?

Also, there was interesting thread on RPGCodex where Kacper Szymczak (developer) answered some questions about the game: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/phantom-doctrine-tactical-cold-war-conspiracy-thriller-by-hard-west-devs-coming-august-14.117897/#post-5421856

F4LL0UT: Another well-received thing was the "Setup" mode where you can move quite freely before engaging in combat. This one was extended into a full-fledged stealth mode called "Infiltration" where you can actively eliminate enemies and even finish entire missions without engaging in open combat.
I thought you guys were intent on the stealth phase always being a temporary state - with the detection phase not being a question of if, but when. This is the first I'm hearing of the possibility of ghosting an entire mission.

I guess when we first announced the game we weren't sure yet if it would and should be possible to complete entire missions without breaking stealth, PD being a turn-based combat game at its core, and I think we avoided definite statements on that matter for a while. We eventually decided against any hard barriers that force combat. Maintaining stealth is hard enough as it is.

However, there are a few exceptions and certain missions even begin in combat but only where it's completely justified by the context. A typical example would be "ambush" missions where your job is to evacuate an agent whose cover has been blown. At the same time ambushes can be avoided by keeping your agents' "heat" low, i.e. by creating new identities for them. Doing so costs money, however, and you need to recall your agents to your hideout if you want to do that. It's up to you if it's worth the investment.

Yeah, that would be our lead designer. Dude shows his face there a lot.
