An uplifting adventure.

UPDATE: With the conclusion of PAX, the 20% pre-order discount for the game has been changed to 10%. D-Pad Studio also announced that Owlboy is scheduled to take off on November 1st!

Owlboy, a wonderful flight through old-school aesthetics and unique platforming mechanics, is now available for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 10% pre-order discount.

Otus doesn't say much but his spirit and determination speak volumes. Just as the beloved owlboy is coming of age, a surprise attack by sky pirates forces him to ride the winds of change and begin his turbulent journey across the aching land. To counter-balance his non-violent nature, Otus will enlist several of his less cordial friends, who are able to gun down the monsters that infest his beloved home. Apart from their unique abilities, the owlboy will share with them stories and companionship, as they flap together towards an open-world full of cavernous dungeons, dangerous ruins, and challenging bosses. Remember: carrying is caring!

Pre-order Owlboy and take to the pixel-perfect skies, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Pre-order bonus: the dreamy OST is free for the early owls, available to download right away both on mp3 and FLAC formats!
The 10% discount will last until the game's release on November 1st.

DPadStudio: A personal note from us at D-Pad Studio!

Thank you SO much for supporting us as we prepped for release on Owlboy! Any pre-order that was made, LITERALLY put food on our table this last month, as we spent our very last assets getting the game ready for the launch.

We are eternally grateful, and we dearly hope you will enjoy our game! If you have anything at all you want to share with us, love/hate/support, please let us know! I will hang around this thread, and if there are any problems with your purchases at all, we are here to support you.

All the best
~ Jo, and the rest of the D-Pad Team <3
Thank *you* for this amazing game! I can't put it down.

Also, can we get a Bonanza avatar? Hahahaha! She's awesome!

Steamspy tells me you've outdone Double Fine's latest release "Headlander" already. Serves them right for not releasing on GOG. :p

I've had a good bit of fun with Owlboy, though the later bosses were a fair bit too much on the difficult and unfair side. After being hit by some bosses, I first had to find where Otus even is, then struggled extinguishing his burning feathers, then tried to get the correct gunner set up again – time enough for the boss to hit me two or three times more. Let's just say high two digit attempt numbers happened quite often.

But nothing up to now was as unfair as that cannon challenge. I have no idea if I'll ever be able to do it, and I'm somewhere between 400 and 500 attempts right now. As this is of course a crucial ordeal to get all coins, I find the situation pretty disheartening, and from our Owlboy forum it looks like when you actually manage this challenge, there's a hefty bug at the end of that challenge which might kill your savegame. :( :( :(

Also struggling with some graphics problems on my 1280x1024 resolution monitor - some parts of the screen, usually a bar at the top, display the game without atmospheric filters/masking. That's something that should be corrected as well.

Apart from that... good work, I hope Owlboy will be the success you deserve!

Ah yes, the cannon! We've made some adjustments to it in a patch, and after some testing, we'll make it live on GOG. I think we miiight have a fix for you monitor too, but this also needs testing as we don't have any 1280x1024 at our offices. We'll do our best to fix these issues in coming patches, and as we find them.

One tip for the cannon challenge is, let go of the keys/controller once you want to go straight down. This might make it easier for you :-)

drealmer7: I've got to say a name like "Owlboy" is really awful and annoying and a huge turnoff.

tinyE: From the makers of "Goat Boy" and "Dog Boy"! WOOF!
Jim Brewer develops games now?

Goat Boy yes. Dog Boy was a little known Keanu Reeves reference.

Now I can see a buddy cop action game. Reeves and Brewer in: Good Goat, Bad Dog.

DPadStudio: Ah yes, the cannon!
Yes, that one. :)

There seems to be an additional hefty bug at work here also. Whenever I finished the challenge after the first one, the cannon sequence control UI (here: A left, D right) don't vanish from the screen. I can only get rid of it by reloading. Unfortunately, my challenge coin score doesn't update: It's frozen at 57 out of 300. FOREVER, even though I completed the minigame four or five times in the meantime. :( :( :(

A quick fix would be welcome – I completed Owlboy in the meantime and will likely move on to another game a rather short while from now. :)

Thanks for your reply!

I'm currently looking into fixing this issue, and I've downloaded GOG's SDK so we can provide you with updates more regularly! We are currently testing on a public beta branch on Steam, and we'll make sure to test on GOG as well :-)

Thanks for the update! I have no interest in the Galaxy client though, none at all whatsoever. :)

It's here!

...Patch notes anywhere...?

/edit: I just cleared the cannon challenge and unfortunately nothing changed there - it's still stuck at 57 coins, doesn't play any different and still produces the bug that it shows the A/D control help after clearing the stage. :( :(
