No Man's Sky a science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available to pre-order now — DRM-free on GOG.com

Intergalactic travel changes the notion of time. Unimaginable speeds connect impossibly distant worlds, dilating lifetimes, blending generations. A round-trip may find your world aged and unrecognizable, separated from your loved ones, irrevocably alien. In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid and with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as our lifetimes are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — populated with explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.
The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means stand your ground in fight.
Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

The pre-order incentive for No Man's Sky includes the Horizon Omega ship — faster engines, better guns, all to kickstart your trip and help you survive longer on the interstellar journey.

Reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, available for pre-orders now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The game is scheduled to be released on June 21st in North America, June 22nd in Europe and Australia, and June 24th in the UK and Rest of World.
Is there any real reason why this isfor me in Norway, 20 dollars more here (575 NOK) on GOG than on Steam.. (400 NOK)?

€60?!? I think I have to wait for many reviews...
While the game does look interesting 54€/60$ for a preorder of which there is almost no gameplay videos, no reviews is just too much. Eitherway, way over my budget. Wishlisted.

I ain't be preorder that, but it am look like my thing.

In some ways it's the potential of the old Starglider 2 game realised with modern technology. If it plays like that I'll be in gaming heaven.

I assume with the single-player mode you don't need to be online all the time? Perhaps it just downloads the base universe parameters?
Whopping 60 euros? *faints*

Tallima: Since it's all multiplayer, I doubt DRM is a big deal. The multiplayer service will be DRMed up to the nines.
That's interesting as both the GOG store page and the Steam store page both say "single-player" with no mention of multi-player. Were they planning on introducing a multi-player at a later date or something?
not the $3.99, 6.99 it used to be.... hehe...

IwubCheeze: The pre-order bonus is pretty retarded. "If you pre-order now, the can use this ship which will make the game easier". How is that an incentive exactly?

Konrad: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Different strokes I guess. I won't be using the ship, but I'd say this is a way better incentive than pre-order exclusive missions or something.
Did you mention Diff'rent Strokes?

My understanding is that it's a single player game. You play and explore. When you go online and connect to the server it uploads the places you've explored and downloads the places already explored from the server. Your galaxy is updated to reflect those explorations.

If you play solely offline, then your galaxy will be completely random whenever you go to a place that you haven't personally explored.

But you won't be meeting any realtime live players in your game in either case.

A pre-order bonus? Aw, come on, GOG. I hope you'll at least allow people to upgrade afterwards, if they want to.
This game looks interesting. I'm a big Freelancer fan and it looks like this might scratch a similar itch (and more, considering the on-the-ground bits). But despite that, there's just no way I'm paying 60 € for a pre-order game and one that's almost four months from release on top of that.
I wishlisted it and I'll keep an eye on it, but I need to see it played, I need to read a review or two, I need to know the status on release (bugs, lack of features etc.) and so on.
I come to GOG to get away from those iffy practices. So, sorry, no way.

All preorder exclusives are evil. Like DRM, they punish legitimate buyers and incentivize people to use torrents (since the best version of the game can only be gotten there, after a very short window of opportunity closes).
There have been hints of being able to see another player, but the game's universe is so large that it's likely only to happen very rarely... I'm sure as people get closer to the center of the galaxy that the chance of this happening will increase, but over all there is NO multiplayer in this game.

Think... Dark Souls where the actions of others might affect your game such as a someone naming a planet and it showing that name in your game.

I disagree... not "all" pre-order bonuses are evil.

This one in fact doesn't seem evil in any way... this bonus is the same bonus that steam is offering which seems to mean that no matter when or where you pre-order, you'll get the same bonus.

It's a "thank you" for buying the game early.

Also, keep in mind that this bonus is really not that good in the first place... the entire game is about upgrading your ship and further exploring which means that you'll likely have moved beyond this "awesome" ship within a few hours or days of playing the game due to finding a far better one or buying improved upgrades.

I do agree that some pre-order bonuses... especially ones that remove parts of the game for the sake of a pre-order or make you pick between several retailers with different "exclusives" can be harmful, but this seems to be real "thank you" that's not game breaking or making you choose between GOG, Steam, Amazon, etc.

Daddy like!

Thanks Sony for for adding to Hello Games's development budget. Who says PC gamers can't benefit from console makers? ;)

Lastly, this preview was posted on RPS just in time. Sounds good so far. :) And one more from PC Gamer.

Awesome addition! I have been eyeing this one for a while. It looks like a game which might be perfect for chilling out but it is hard to tell from trailers if the world will feel dead after a hour of exploration due to limited unique options.

I look forward to see some let's plays and buyers' reactions.
Without knowing much about it, nnnnnnnnnnope.

Also, don't preorder anything. Don't give interest free loans to any for profit operation.
