No Man's Sky a science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available to pre-order now — DRM-free on GOG.com

Intergalactic travel changes the notion of time. Unimaginable speeds connect impossibly distant worlds, dilating lifetimes, blending generations. A round-trip may find your world aged and unrecognizable, separated from your loved ones, irrevocably alien. In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid and with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as our lifetimes are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — populated with explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.
The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means stand your ground in fight.
Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

The pre-order incentive for No Man's Sky includes the Horizon Omega ship — faster engines, better guns, all to kickstart your trip and help you survive longer on the interstellar journey.

Reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, available for pre-orders now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The game is scheduled to be released on June 21st in North America, June 22nd in Europe and Australia, and June 24th in the UK and Rest of World.

fortune_p_dawg: dude, i cannot wait till friday!

BKGaming: And pre-ordered... now what am I to do for the next week?
metroid 2 remake and little kings story and/or terraria.
avatar
fishbaits: But the last time I /cast popcorn, I mis-cast & created even more rant threads.
I daren't risk that again ;)
avatar
Grargar: You should. Since each spell failure will result in more rant threads, it means even more Popcorn eating fodder, which in turn should motivate you to become better at your spellcasting.
I tried, I failed :(

I cast popcorn, yet something even weirder was summoned... a pointless achievement, made worse by the fact I didn't even have GOGalaxy running.

this is the reason why the leaker only took 30 hours to finish the game:
[
infinite warp cell exploit and rare goods trading exploit among other removed. People using these cheats were ruining the game for themselves, but people are weird and can’t stop themselves ¯_(シ)_/¯
]
Good old patch humour.

Kind of fascinating when "only took 30h" count as illicit speed run when most other games are happy to bring that much to the table for the whole regular game :D
Confirmed: You can get to the exact same spot as another player & not see or interact with them in any form, nor even see any of the destruction either player does.

I always thought it'd be this way, although Sean did keep dropping hints that something could occur if players met.

Perhaps a slim chance that it is server shards, but unlikely.

Sean actually said clearly on his Twitter that this is NOT a multiplayer game.
I suspect the 'collision' he was talking about with the networking feature was collision with others' discoveries.

After all this time, I still don't get the hype for the game.
Well there are no 'official' critic reviews yet, but the player reviews seem pretty mixed on Metacritic.
My 2 cents:

* price tag a bit too high
* the trailer aren't very intriguing
* this new trend of "procedurally" generating something doesn't mean anything on quality and fun.
We have to play on GOG Galaxy to be online ?
I know it's a little risky -also damn wacky and fun- but GOG should release Parkan II tomorrow!
It would kick so much ass.... I mean, afterall, it's NMS's poor ol' cousin ;D

From what I have read, a butch of 4chan users decided in would be okay to bomb the metacritic reviews for this game... no idea why, but take those with a grain of salt.

Perhaps, but I saw plenty of 'reviews' that made good points.
Terrible scoring, but good points.
As does this Forbes article.

Why?
Isn't that sexual assault or harassment?
