No Man's Sky a science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available to pre-order now — DRM-free on GOG.com

Intergalactic travel changes the notion of time. Unimaginable speeds connect impossibly distant worlds, dilating lifetimes, blending generations. A round-trip may find your world aged and unrecognizable, separated from your loved ones, irrevocably alien. In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid and with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as our lifetimes are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — populated with explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.
The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means stand your ground in fight.
Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

The pre-order incentive for No Man's Sky includes the Horizon Omega ship — faster engines, better guns, all to kickstart your trip and help you survive longer on the interstellar journey.

Reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, available for pre-orders now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The game is scheduled to be released on June 21st in North America, June 22nd in Europe and Australia, and June 24th in the UK and Rest of World.

Good thing we're on PC... where I'm sure the 'annoying' aspects can easily be modded out if they aren't patched out. Who knows... maybe you can even turn off a lot of the hud nonsense in the game's settings.

Definitely wait for a Total Biscuit review :p

Yeah, will be keeping an eye on his views when he can release, assuming he plays it hehe.

I'm still dubious about it having good pc UI though, they are only a small team so I'm guessing it'll probably be the same or far too close.

Time'll tell though ;)
Apparently the guy who bought the leaked version completed the game by travelling to the center of the universe in 30 hours.
Which is still a decent amount of time really.

If it's true then for normal people it will cost $2/hr.
For me I usually don't rush with games and enjoy every bit of it. Specially if it's my first playthrough.
Since game has procedural generation of planets, so it may add diversity to game.
With even a slight bit of replayability it can decrease it's cost upto $0.20/hr.
so does anyone know when this is actually releasing here? does gog know?

So I pre-ordered. Why does GoG Galaxy tell me that this game is "Not Compatible" with my system?

Core i7 x5687 Xeon
16GB RAM
Geforce GTX 970
Windows 10

Your computer's configuration appears more than fine to me; it's probably a glitch on the Galaxy client's part.

What Lester said.

Did not even knew Galaxy had such a tab; I use it mainly for backup.
Should we all make a screenshot of our start and post it up in the game's forum? The guys over at reddit had the interesting idea, but I'd rather not mix my pretty PC shots in with PS4 ones :p

I watched his 'review' and explanation of some things he said in Reddit. The reason he took ~30 hours to reach the centre of the GALAXY was due to an exploit of sorts. You see, your ship requires specific warp fuel to move from solar systems which is typically not an easy thing to make. However, he found that a place in each system contains the components required to craft the warp fuel literally dangling in front of him. I've omitted detail, just in case you didn't want it.

Needless to say, this method he used was very unconventional... and there's no telling whether the developer had planned to patch it out with that day-1 they've been working on for a month. If you were to play the game without this beeline speedrunner type exploit, then the game would take much longer. Or should I be saying, if you didn't watch the video explaining it then you will have absolutely no idea how it was achieved... which is a good thing.

Keep in mind that the centre of the galaxy is not the 'end' of the game, by any means. Again... details omitted.

When Galaxy says "Not Compatible", it means that the game can't be installed through Galaxy yet. Once the game releases and the files become available, the notice should go away.

Release date re-re-re-confirmed as August 12th.

https://twitter.com/NoMansSky/status/761694858562207744

Also, apparently the delay (or part of?) was to add 21:9 monitor in game.

Got to keep that 0.1% happy I suppose ;p

Well, he did say they don't have a 21:9 monitor, of course it'll take longer to get it right :D. Also hoping there's an FoV setting. I don't wan to get motion sick and abandon the game.

I expect the Steam forums are going ballistic, judging by Reddit's reaction. GOG did us the service of changing the gamecard text pretty quickly when HG changed their website text, it's notably quieter around here.
