No Man's Sky a science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available to pre-order now — DRM-free on GOG.com

Intergalactic travel changes the notion of time. Unimaginable speeds connect impossibly distant worlds, dilating lifetimes, blending generations. A round-trip may find your world aged and unrecognizable, separated from your loved ones, irrevocably alien. In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid and with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as our lifetimes are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — populated with explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.
The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means stand your ground in fight.
Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

The pre-order incentive for No Man's Sky includes the Horizon Omega ship — faster engines, better guns, all to kickstart your trip and help you survive longer on the interstellar journey.

It looks like they're renting in a cheap area that has modern electric/internet retrofitted onto the buildings, so utilities going out isn't that surprising. Living in a good area built up recently or retrofitted properly can make a huge difference.

Ixamyakxim: Okay I don't Twitter (yet?) but was hugely interested in this release - what's going on? Should I try and search something? I'm not usually big into clicking random search hits when I don't know the source so I'm not sure who would have legitimate news on this.
That's the developers twitter. They've been having trouble with utilities going out, which doesn't seem surprising to me looking at the pictures.

It`s a direct link from Sean/NMS man himself, saying their internet (internot) was down & that is happens to them, EA & others there all the time.

So this isn't a (No Man's) sky is falling situation? Reading the last few posts in this thread is making it sound like the company is about to go defunct and the game never release - I was freaking out a bit.

But this is not the situation? It's just a few users joking around (and me not clicking links?) and the game is actually right on track, just delayed a month or two?

Mostly people just joking around. That said said, next time someone posts a direct link to Twitter on a topic you're interested in just click on it. I can understand being wary of shady or ad-heavy sites, but Twitter's not one of them.

Thanks! Yeah, usually I don't mind clicking through to Twitter but I was a bit (video game related) nervous and wasn't sure how direct the Twitters linked to would be (there were several from a few periods of time and I was afraid it would quickly get a bit "disjointed" and I wouldn't have an idea of what was going on).

Good to know that the game is still on track ;)
Now I`m tempted to make a prank No Man`s Sky twitter just to tease you ;)

Hmmm... Never Man`s Sky? ;p

With my experience of Virgin (internet variety, not the...nvm) it should called No Man`s Connection.

LOL, the "This happens to @ubisoft and @ea ALL THE TIME" part was a joke -- the idea being that those two companies also operate out of a single shitty building and "borrow" each other's cable/Internet when their own is out. :D
