Seriously, this is how idiotic it sounds when anyone declares that an indie developer has to charge less because they're indie.
it ain't that local sandwich shop dude's fault that we done made society cost prohibitive through globalization and the allowance of massive multinational conglomerates combined with inflation.

double edit: and after watching that Jimquisition, I'm surprised how little information there still is about his game. I hope this isn't a hype play. the AAA shpiel doesn't need more launch quality/trust scandals.

and indies don't need to lose their golden charm. greenlight hasn't done that yet. but if this larger indie game ends up being cynically misleading or sub-par, it'll cause a hit to actual larger independent and good developers like Larian, Paradox (still?), ineXile, Supergiant and so on.

amok: What I think is a bit stupid is that people do not think about what the terms mean.... why can an indie not produce an AAA game? What exactly does these two terms mean, and are they exclusive?

In my opinion, there is nothing stopping an indie company from producing an AAA title. Same as someone like UBI can make a game which is not AAA. But then I think I have tried to get some understanding of what they mean before using them. I might be wrong, but still...

Well, if there are "18,446,744,073,709,551,616 planets" that can be explored, won`t most (hell, almost all) be pointless?
Unless of course it is all there for placing random folks in that area..

With any luck, it will have an eternal sandbox like Stalker does once modded.
Well if this title lives up to what is promised and single player works well off line I will get this one. But I have been burnt too many times to risk pre purchase of such a title.

Hope it works well on release.

I suppose, given the nature of the game, that the one other game it's most obvious to compare it to is Spore. Since that game amply demonstrated that endless variety in landscape and wildlife in no way automatically translates to endless variety in gameplay, it's only natural to be wary. Generally, I'm against preordering digital games, but No Man's Sky in particular seems like a game one should definitely refrain from preordering. There is too little information about it. It could be great, no doubt about it, but it could also be like Spore, a fantastically impressive tech demo, that nevertheless fails miserably in the gameplay department.
