No Man's Sky a science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available to pre-order now — DRM-free on GOG.com

Intergalactic travel changes the notion of time. Unimaginable speeds connect impossibly distant worlds, dilating lifetimes, blending generations. A round-trip may find your world aged and unrecognizable, separated from your loved ones, irrevocably alien. In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid and with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as our lifetimes are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — populated with explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.
The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means stand your ground in fight.
Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

The pre-order incentive for No Man's Sky includes the Horizon Omega ship — faster engines, better guns, all to kickstart your trip and help you survive longer on the interstellar journey.

Reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, available for pre-orders now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The game is scheduled to be released on June 21st in North America, June 22nd in Europe and Australia, and June 24th in the UK and Rest of World.

Stto: There is exactly *ONE* reason for anyone to preorder this at the moment:

You will go to the hospital/on a trip through the wilderness/to Mars tomorrow and won't come back until July and you absolutely have to have the preorder bonus (which basically is a cheat and will cheapen your gaming experience).

If this does not apply to you, do not preorder. If you want the preorder bonus, you can still buy it 1 day before release, when hopefully more info on the game is out. Do not support the preorder stupidity.

Thank you.
I disagree with this being a cheat... it's more like getting a level 2 ship to start vs a level 1 ship in a game that has no ending and no maximum level to obtain.

i do understand what you're saying though.

I know I should have been happy to see this released here but...

1 An outrageous price, so either their scope is too big or their budget management is bad. So they'll most probably underdeliver. And personally I am not putting that budget in a unique game, indie or not...
2 Nice record on the amount paid by gog for the "fair price package", almost seven euros.
3 Not only is it a preorder but it also "offers an incentive" that is quite questionnable for my intelligence as a gamer...

I will quite gladly pass on giving my money for this kind of thing but I'm still quite disapointed to see gog so willing to play this kind of shit...

All things considered, a sad day...

The thought crossed my mind, but if I'm in a position to buy it early as support/statement I think a Day-1 sale on GOG will count for as much as a preorder when all is said and done.

Really, is there any kind of shit GOG isn't willing to entertain nowadays, other than outright DRM?

T0TENK0PF: As there is a pre-order bonus on the Steam version, isn´t it preferable to have it her too?
More so as it is an identical bonus and not: buy here for this bonus, buy there for that bonus?
avatar
Darvond: No, it'd be preferable if they didn't try to carrot on a stick preorders before they've outright proven the product.
True, it would be preferable if the PUBLISHER (guess thats who did it) would not do it.
But think about it if GOG dropped the pre-order bonus what people would have said.
So basically they had no choice but add it, right?
(And just always remember we are talking about something you don´t really need and get for free ;-))
ehhh guyth?

there seems to be a small error in your copy on the preorder page.

this

But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you'll know that death comes at a cost,

specifically

know that death comes at a cost,

makes no sense.

Did you mean truth comes at a cost? as in

Yeah, $67.09 for digital distribution is way too much and the regional pricing is insulting.

Oh dear... regionalised release dates, pre-order only content and... do I spy regional pricing without the 'fair price package'?
This really looks amazing... But I'll have to wait for a year until it comes in my price range :(

Seriously, why do digital products cost so much ? I mean, they're not spending any money on the actual physical stuff...
I just had a look at the game specs and I am surprised so many people are saying they will need to update their machines.

I'm on a 4 year old laptop and my specs are fine for this title. It's an i7,8 Gigs of ram and nvidia 500series. Plays everything else so far. Sure I may not get 30 FPS but on a laptop screen I find even 15fps or less is fine for me as I can't tell the difference.

Sure I won't be able to put up all the graphics etc so I guess it really depends if people mean "playable with low settings" or if people want all the glorious splendor.

Me ? So long as it runs even at low FPS, I'll be fine with it. :)
I'm not sure why but I was under the impression it would cost less than $60. Did they ever touch on the subject of pricing before?

Smannesman: Interesting, but pre-order and regional pricing?

katya_stevens: I'm seeing zero regional pricing for me: £39.99 ($57.89 if I switch to USD prices).
And you think that it costs $57.89 in the USA?

The fact that it's showing up as a round number in £ and a weird number in $ should clue you in to the regional pricing. With no regional pricing, one would expect a round price in $ and a weird price in other currencies.

EDIT: Ok, the developer is based over here so... could it be possible that it's actually cheapest here?

Regional pricing doesn't give a fair price package if the price is below the US one, as it seems to be the case with the UK price ($57.89 vs US price $59.99).

I just looked up the dev and they are British, so it would seem the UK price is the 'base' price for once? I wonder if 'Muricans get FPP?

Unless I'm missing something...

regional releasing to match the physical release on PS4... and keep in mind Sony helped fund the development.

it's technically not preorder "only" content.... you can find this exact ship in game. though it'll be difficult considering ships are random and proceduraly generated like the universe.

Regional pricing differences might be again... related to the physical PS4 release and Sony funding.

Do i fully agree... no... but it may have been a choice between having the game on gog or not at all. personally... I'm happy to have the option of DRM free No Man's Sky vs needing to buy from steam
