No Man's Sky a science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available to pre-order now — DRM-free on GOG.com

Intergalactic travel changes the notion of time. Unimaginable speeds connect impossibly distant worlds, dilating lifetimes, blending generations. A round-trip may find your world aged and unrecognizable, separated from your loved ones, irrevocably alien. In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid and with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as our lifetimes are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — populated with explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.
The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means stand your ground in fight.
Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

The pre-order incentive for No Man's Sky includes the Horizon Omega ship — faster engines, better guns, all to kickstart your trip and help you survive longer on the interstellar journey.

Reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, available for pre-orders now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The game is scheduled to be released on June 21st in North America, June 22nd in Europe and Australia, and June 24th in the UK and Rest of World.
Wow!!!!!!

Like others have said I can't believe that GOG is getting this day one!!
This is one of my most anticipated games this year and I thought for sure that I would have to resort to Steam to play it and I was expecting an always online component. I am so happy to find out that is not the case.

I will pre-order closer to release, but damn GOG you have been doing really well this week. Undertale, Shardlight and now No Man's Sky. It makes me happy to be a loyal customer here.

How about Firewatch and Nelly Cootalot next?
It looks gorgeous and the premise sounds great, but I'm just wondering how much game there will be to it? I want something that has at least some direction or end goal, not a virtual theme park (unless I'm literally playing Theme Park...).
Damn, I've seen a trailer for this ages ago, was absolutely stunned and later though that it was an early version of Star Citizen although Star Citizen doesn't seem to focus on the fading between planets and space so much and will be in development for ages.

It's a real shame that it doesn't have a Linux port, I'd totally get new hardware just for this one game.

MxMedix: Amazing to see this here.... thank you hellogames and gog...

For those that want to know more...

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame
https://secretonline.github.io/NMS-Info/

All your questions will be answered.... Mostly.

Also... There's not really multiplayer in the traditional sense. It's more like a interactive wiki database and you'll likely never see another player in the wild.

following this game for years and never dreamed gog would get this on release.

PLEASE..don't let steam get updates before gog does. Keep the updates on parity.

Cypisss: There also seems to be more fresh news about the game coming out literally right now.
I'll go out on a limb and say there must have been some major press event around the game recently because most coverage has new things and details.
Here is one pretty nice piece:

there definitely was... an embargo lifted today... we've been in a media blackout for a few months from hello games.

CelineSSauve: Also, no go for me. I've heard of this game and what some people name their discoveries, and I don't like games where my options are "filter all things manually or don't share in that aspect of the experience".
avatar
IAmSinistar: Likewise. I don't care to experience a universe of wonder where half the things in it have been named by giggling 13-year-olds and look-how-offensive-I-can-be hate monkeys. Plus I bet it won't be too longer before there's a virtual ISIS in there, dedicated to going around and blowing the fuck out of anything of beauty.

This game is solo play or no play for me.
you can play in offline mode and never worry

I know, hence my last comment. Though after reading more about the game, it seems like one will hardly ever encounter another player anyway. At least in theory; reality may be very different, particularly once motivated people start looking for ways around that. Never underestimate the desire of some folks to be unmitigated assholes.

the main goal is to explore, learn and travel to the center of the Galaxy... galaxies... universe.

exactly...there are literally trillions upon trillions of worlds to visit. even if every person on the earth bought and played the game, you'd still likely never see another player

Darvond: Oh, great. We've gone there. The pre-order bonus.
It's hardly the first time it's been done here.

No, I meant that it's not the first game available as a pre-order on GOG with some sort of pre-order bonus.

There is exactly *ONE* reason for anyone to preorder this at the moment:

You will go to the hospital/on a trip through the wilderness/to Mars tomorrow and won't come back until July and you absolutely have to have the preorder bonus (which basically is a cheat and will cheapen your gaming experience).

If this does not apply to you, do not preorder. If you want the preorder bonus, you can still buy it 1 day before release, when hopefully more info on the game is out. Do not support the preorder stupidity.

Thank you.

As there is a pre-order bonus on the Steam version, isn´t it preferable to have it her too?
More so as it is an identical bonus and not: buy here for this bonus, buy there for that bonus?

Normally I'd totally be on board with you (I'm not a fan of the preorder mentality - it actually is part of what pulled me away from consoles and back to PC gaming, amoung a few other things).

HOWEVER (LOL)

With this one I view it as voting with my dollars. I've reread a preview I saw of this game a dozen times (I'm a loser I know ;) ) and that was KNOWING I'd never get a chance to play it. There's no way it wasn't going to be exclusive, there's no way it wouldn't be Steamed / DRMed up the whazoo to facilitate the "multiplayer," there's no way it would ever come to GOG...

But it did. I want this developer to go to other developers and say "Holy crap, look at the numbers we did on GoG with a AAA Preorder, DRM free." As much as I love The Witcher and CDPR, they can't do this on their own and the more other developers realize you can do huge numbers bringing your AAA game to a DRM free platform day one the better.

*Ixam's rant off ;) *

No, it'd be preferable if they didn't try to carrot on a stick preorders before they've outright proven the product.

I also never thought I'd ever get to play this. I thought it would be steam only and maybe in 10 years or so on GoG. But WOW it's here !!!! Fantastic.

I agree that for me it HAS to be offline and Single player. Sure online and multiplayer can be options so long as I am NEVER forced to go online. *I* want to discover everything. *I* want the universe frozen when I save and return whenever I want. *I* want to be able to roll back time to a previous save if I want to FORK gameplay. This is how I always play. Also because it is single player, hopefully mods will be available to change all kinds of things. If mods come from the community, then it is 100% perfect :)

This is just perfect for people who play like me. Offline, single player, save games that can fork and FROZEN universe when I save.

Fantastic Gog. Will keep watching closer to the due date.
