Grim Fandango resurrected.

Grim Fandango Remastered marks the return of gaming's most recognisable, and notoriously unavailable, cult classic - now on Windows, Mac, and Linux. This upcoming release got everybody so excited, Tim Schafer even prepared a special trailer all about how you can pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered (and why that’s a fine idea) right now, exclusively on GOG.com for the first week!

Grim Fandango is by far the single most wishlisted game by the GOG.com community with an overwhelming 45,000 votes. It's a unique blend of Mexican folklore with film noir stylings, and has been critically praised for its art direction, writing, and memorable characters.

Grim Fandango Remastered refreshes, refines, and remasters the award winning title and Tim Schafer's last hurrah as LucasArts' adventure-gaming-extraordinaire. The remaster modernizes the game's presentation and gameplay with completely repainted textures, widescreen support, and quite possibly best of all: modern controls. You can now say goodbye to unwieldy tank controls, a staple of the early 3D era, and enjoy a fully point-and-click interface - but only if you want! The option to play the game as originally envisioned is always there.

Have you missed Grim Fandango the first time around? Now's your chance to experience gaming history like never before, or if you have played it in its heyday - you're probably long overdue for another go anyway. You can pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered right now on GOG.com!
The pre-order will last until Tuesday, January 27, when the game is expected to launch on GOG.com.

It took a lot to bring this classic back to life. If you’d like to learn more about the remaster, Double Fine and 2 Player Productions have just released the newest episode of The Making of Grim Fandango Remastered - a recommended watch.

damien: I would like to remind that all those votes GOG is referring to is for the original version, not remastered.

But, in the Wish Title (from "skordakias") it says "HD Remastered"! ;-)

EDIT: It seems you're right dude, i haven't noticed that the wish title was changed at some time by GOG.
GOG had similar practices in the past, such as marking Z as completed whereas the release was just a mobile port remake. But this, in my opinion, crosses the line a bit. I would call this bad practice and cheating.
Definately interested in this one, but pre-ordering is silly.
On the Youtube video page there is a bit of backlash (mostly targeted at Tim Schafer) in regards to this game, or rather the possibility of it not being a good remake.... but then this is the Internet.

May I say I don't like it too? Yes, I don't like this kind of manipulation with numbers... HD remastered version is not what I'm looking for on GOG after Lucas Arts announcement...
agreed, see my above comments :)
IT'S HAPPENNIGN
Look, not to be a downer here... but I'm trying to understand the benefit of pre-order exclusivity. Are GOG members getting it earlier than the launch date? If it's going to be available on all other platforms from the 27th January, I'm not sure there's much to crow about, despite Tim's heartwarming personal message.

That said, I'm really pleased it's on GOG and will definitely be picking it up.

JudasIscariot: RE: additional languages

Once we get all of the additional language info, we'll add them to the page ASAP :)
Great. I'll preorder once the languages are confirmed or once I get home should the additional language info arrive in the next few hours.

Matruchus: Its funny thought that nobody noticed this since October :)
It's probably because they changed it today, not october 2014 ;)

No, because the first posts about remastered edition under that wish are from October - that's what I mean't :)

My bad first one is from November :)

At last, GF is here! Big thanks to all who made that happen. :)

GeneralFailer: 4 GB of RAM looks really weird among other minimum requirements. It's as much as Far Cry 4 requires.

pacciulli: It's just me or all GOG games require 4gb of RAM?
Just you probably. Everything looks fine for me.

Well, I hope this is just a mistake since Double Fine said there would be all the languages...

Quite frankly the remastered version is probably the definitive version for someone to experience the game (pending actually confirming that they improved/fixed what they say they did).

The original version had issues with multicore cpus, issues with certain GPUs, issues with subtitles and cutscenes (and at least one instance where they were completely missing) and some other horrible bugs -among which a patch introduced bug where an critical plot-related dialogue would not trigger properly. And lots of people complained about the tank control|, too.

It would be a wasted effort to try to fix all these issues to get the original game to run on modern PCs, as well as old ones*, while Double Fine was working on the improved/remastered version (which probably wouldn't have done if not "encouraged" by Sony, and for which we should probably be thankful that is coming on the PC at the same time as for PS4).

* I am assuming the main argument for the original version is the lower requirements. Because all the rest of the content is there, and the scenery/models are basically the same (the remaster is more of a slight re-touch on the original content rather than changing everything like Monkey Island Special Editions). Another argument could be that the original version would be priced lower, but the remastered version seems cheap enough and logically priced (to me anyway) as compared to other "remastered" releases.
