Grim Fandango resurrected.

Grim Fandango Remastered marks the return of gaming's most recognisable, and notoriously unavailable, cult classic - now on Windows, Mac, and Linux. This upcoming release got everybody so excited, Tim Schafer even prepared a special trailer all about how you can pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered (and why that’s a fine idea) right now, exclusively on GOG.com for the first week!

Grim Fandango is by far the single most wishlisted game by the GOG.com community with an overwhelming 45,000 votes. It's a unique blend of Mexican folklore with film noir stylings, and has been critically praised for its art direction, writing, and memorable characters.

Grim Fandango Remastered refreshes, refines, and remasters the award winning title and Tim Schafer's last hurrah as LucasArts' adventure-gaming-extraordinaire. The remaster modernizes the game's presentation and gameplay with completely repainted textures, widescreen support, and quite possibly best of all: modern controls. You can now say goodbye to unwieldy tank controls, a staple of the early 3D era, and enjoy a fully point-and-click interface - but only if you want! The option to play the game as originally envisioned is always there.

Have you missed Grim Fandango the first time around? Now's your chance to experience gaming history like never before, or if you have played it in its heyday - you're probably long overdue for another go anyway. You can pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered right now on GOG.com!
The pre-order will last until Tuesday, January 27, when the game is expected to launch on GOG.com.

It took a lot to bring this classic back to life. If you’d like to learn more about the remaster, Double Fine and 2 Player Productions have just released the newest episode of The Making of Grim Fandango Remastered - a recommended watch.

deloctyte: So... To those of us who pre-ordered the thing for fifteen bucks, will we get our measly dollar back somehow? :D
Wait, I'm confused. Did they just reduce the price or sell it for cheaper somewhere else? I'm still seeing $15 as the price on GOG

Same here.

Pidgeot: I contacted support yesterday and requested a partial refund, they replied today that they would do that - so I'd suggest you do the same :)
You guys still seeing a $13.99 price?

Yup.

Grargar: Yup.
Yeppers. And they wouldn't do that, isn't GoG's policy that all prices are the same, or the people who have to pay more get some kind of credit to use later?

Only if they pay higher then the base US price which is $14.99 in this case.
OMFG! Finally... it's definitely been too long! :D

gamefood: Minimum system requirements - Windows: Windows Vista or Later
Processor: Dual Core CPU or faster
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4650 (512MB) or NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT, or Intel HD 4000 Graphics
Hard Drive: 4.5 GB available space
Additional Notes: GPU that supports OpenGL 3.3 or higher

HAHAHA good one... I can see gogs nasty grimace laughing at me, directly in my face...
Well, I guess then I'll never play it. The other side is, no gog and no Double Fine will get my money.

I would welcome the possibility to unvote maded votes. I voted for GF not for GF remastered, it may be the same game concerning the story and so on but it has an other technical base. So it's NOT the same game!
The impulse to vote for something isn't the same anymore, right in that moment when it's been edited or even "manipulated".
All old games in GOG are supposed to be incompatible with modern machines, thus are tweaked into compatibility, so a remastered edition is nothing new at all.
Must be a lot of people who dont mind having a REMASTERED version :P (still no.1 on current best sellers)

Like me, and I have the original. Hate, hate, hate the tank controls. Ruins it for me personally. Has the opposite affect from what Tim Schaffer intended and makes it hard to get fully immersed in the game for me, too busy deciding which key to press.

I was very excited to hear the announcement of this game being re-released, and I'm stoked that it's coming to GOG from the very beginning (I hate it when Steam gets it, first), but I am so very broke that I can't afford to pre-order it and must wait until later to purchase.

*cries*
Double Fine, huh? So we can expect this game to come out very late and a potential begging for crowd funding?

I dont know what you're talking about: this is a remaster/restoration of a 17 years old game.

Um, did you watch any of the videos? It is practically done and scheduled for release on the 27th. It appears to me they are taking a chance on this one, hoping it will be a hit even if they go in the the hole a bit while making it. Tim Schaffer may even be helping to fund it.

I don't think GOG would be selling it pre-release unless they were confident it is going to happen.
What's the deal with pre-order of this game? For physical items, pre-order is important since the item can get out-of-stock. This game will be digitally distributed. And as far as I see, the only pre-order bonus is some HD wallpapers. I mean, even the price is full price, at least I think so since there isn't anything mentioned on it. So, if it was a physical item, it's OK. If there's a special pre-order price, it's OK. Sure, some want special wallpapers but, I don't see a big train we can miss. Right? Or did I miss something.
PS. I am planning to buy it, but if pre-ordering won't give me anything special, isn't it logical to wait and see some reviews?

The HD Wallpapers aren't a pre-order bonus; they are a general bonus. As for the reason of pre-ordering, well, hype?
