Grim Fandango resurrected.

Grim Fandango Remastered marks the return of gaming's most recognisable, and notoriously unavailable, cult classic - now on Windows, Mac, and Linux. This upcoming release got everybody so excited, Tim Schafer even prepared a special trailer all about how you can pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered (and why that’s a fine idea) right now, exclusively on GOG.com for the first week!

Grim Fandango is by far the single most wishlisted game by the GOG.com community with an overwhelming 45,000 votes. It's a unique blend of Mexican folklore with film noir stylings, and has been critically praised for its art direction, writing, and memorable characters.

Grim Fandango Remastered refreshes, refines, and remasters the award winning title and Tim Schafer's last hurrah as LucasArts' adventure-gaming-extraordinaire. The remaster modernizes the game's presentation and gameplay with completely repainted textures, widescreen support, and quite possibly best of all: modern controls. You can now say goodbye to unwieldy tank controls, a staple of the early 3D era, and enjoy a fully point-and-click interface - but only if you want! The option to play the game as originally envisioned is always there.

Have you missed Grim Fandango the first time around? Now's your chance to experience gaming history like never before, or if you have played it in its heyday - you're probably long overdue for another go anyway. You can pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered right now on GOG.com!
The pre-order will last until Tuesday, January 27, when the game is expected to launch on GOG.com.

It took a lot to bring this classic back to life. If you’d like to learn more about the remaster, Double Fine and 2 Player Productions have just released the newest episode of The Making of Grim Fandango Remastered - a recommended watch.

RadonGOG: It's relatively expensive since it's literally 6-times the price that you can routinely get amazing games for on GOG, it has a good chance to be redundancy-friendly (switching between one remake and another remake as you wish) and it's a complete remake of the most voted-upon game on GOG's wishlist! Which is definitely NOT this game, but who would know from the edited request currently on the wishlist? Oh, and I'd love to play it if it's a decent remake, but there really is no reason to pre-order it right now, is there? I might as well wait.
FTFY.

Yep, you might as well wait until there are some reviews and you have more information about how they handled the remake. Excellent points.

51nikopol: OMG Grim Fandango on GOG...I can't wipe the smile off my face!

This is what I came to GOG for, to play the classic point and click games and boy have they delivered.

Thank you very much GOG. I can't wait to play the greatest point and click of all time.
I do love your enthusiasm ;-) I will add mine to the "Sweet!!!" response and not complain about extras, languages etc ;-p
Fantastic! I'm rather anxious, in a neutral-to-good way, to see the extent of the changes. The engine improvements are wonderful, though I'm quite disappointed that nothing was done to polish up the backgrounds. As to the updated score, I figure Peter McConnell has earned the right to implement his revisions, though I'd still love a detailed comparison between the old and new. Also, it would be a colossal waste if there is no extended version of Bone Wagon.

When I saw it I thought awesome... but not likly for Mac then I saw it is coming out for Mac and Linux and thought wow that is awesome. Wish there was a deluxe edition with soundtrack and art book but awesome is still awesome.

PraetorianWolfie: Care to provide an example?

I can only think of Monkey Island's 2 case; the original music was still there when you switched to the classic version but they had to drop the iMuse seamless transitions system).

damien: Silent Hill HD Collection
HD in name only.
I hate to pre-order games, but I will have to make an exception this time.
I have the old disc copy and it doesn't want to install on a 64 bit machine so this is a wonderful compromise.
Thank you Double Fine and thank you GOG!

This is fantastic!

You can run the data files in . There is even a [url=http://kotaku.com/hooray-someone-finally-fixed-grim-fandango-1529330636]point-and-click mod that gets you the same control scheme so you don't have to wait until the remaster comes out.

Ordered. Thanks for releasing this game.
high rated
Thanks for this release GOG. This was a game that I noticed on a wishlist and now it's possible to experience it in some form on GOG, regardless of all the talk about the finer points of what should have been released. I never gave it much thought besides the noticeable praise for it, but now it's on my radar, thanks. I will more likely wait for a discount I like when I consider to buy it.

As for the video linked in the announcement post, if anyone wants to see all of the making of episodes, here it is in order:

And here is the PAX Prime 2014 video talking about this game

Hmm while waiting for pay to come in my initial impulsiveness has worn off. I'll wait until release and see some reviews before I dive in. Though this is a different case to Broken Age and DF9 which weren't finished / kickstarted when funded in that one is actually done I'll still wait to see that there isn't anything massively wrong.
Golden boy Tim is a little tarnished in Fan's eyes of late.

Wait and see, that'd be me.

So once this game is released does that mean the next most requested game is System Shock 1? (There are a lot of repeat requests so I suspect there may be a handful of other games if the votes are combined.)
Yeah Tim is a thief and a liar. He'll never see another dime from me again.
You sir are an unfortunate human being.

Grim Fandango is a great game, can't wait for it to arrive on GOG.
