Grim Fandango resurrected.

Grim Fandango Remastered marks the return of gaming's most recognisable, and notoriously unavailable, cult classic - now on Windows, Mac, and Linux. This upcoming release got everybody so excited, Tim Schafer even prepared a special trailer all about how you can pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered (and why that’s a fine idea) right now, exclusively on GOG.com for the first week!

Grim Fandango is by far the single most wishlisted game by the GOG.com community with an overwhelming 45,000 votes. It's a unique blend of Mexican folklore with film noir stylings, and has been critically praised for its art direction, writing, and memorable characters.

Grim Fandango Remastered refreshes, refines, and remasters the award winning title and Tim Schafer's last hurrah as LucasArts' adventure-gaming-extraordinaire. The remaster modernizes the game's presentation and gameplay with completely repainted textures, widescreen support, and quite possibly best of all: modern controls. You can now say goodbye to unwieldy tank controls, a staple of the early 3D era, and enjoy a fully point-and-click interface - but only if you want! The option to play the game as originally envisioned is always there.

Have you missed Grim Fandango the first time around? Now's your chance to experience gaming history like never before, or if you have played it in its heyday - you're probably long overdue for another go anyway. You can pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered right now on GOG.com!
The pre-order will last until Tuesday, January 27, when the game is expected to launch on GOG.com.

It took a lot to bring this classic back to life. If you’d like to learn more about the remaster, Double Fine and 2 Player Productions have just released the newest episode of The Making of Grim Fandango Remastered - a recommended watch.

If you take a look at the link, you'll see why. :)

"Catch-22 is a satirical novel by the American author Joseph Heller.... Strictly speaking, a "Catch-22" is "a problematic situation for which the only solution is denied by a circumstance inherent in the problem or by a rule."...In the book, Catch-22 is a military rule typifying bureaucratic operation and reasoning. The rule is never explicitly stated, but the principal example in the book fits the definition above: If one is crazy, one can be discharged from the army. But one has to apply for the discharge, and applying demonstrates that one is not crazy. As a result, one will not be discharged. "
Already came earlier this evening.

Came again after reading this a few astounded minutes ago.

Now feeling dehydrated.

Cannot sleep... but I may pass out shortly <very large grin>

I sent him a letter as a senior in high school while doing a paper on various structures of time in C-22. His response listed several mistakes he made in the timeline, imminently quotable for my project. My bibliography was the best ever: "personal letter from the author". :) RIP, Joe...
high rated
It says "ask me about Grim Fandango"...

That is amazing. Not very many authors are still around who would take the time for something like that.
OMG Grim Fandango on GOG...I can't wipe the smile off my face!

This is what I came to GOG for, to play the classic point and click games and boy have they delivered.

Thank you very much GOG. I can't wait to play the greatest point and click of all time.

It really was amazing. My mom had to use friends in New York to track down his agent who begrudgingly passed the letter along. His response was so cheery and fun. A typed letter, but signed by him. It is framed and hangs on my wall. :)
When I first saw the main page today with "Grim Fandango" I said to myself tons of people will be going nuts with excitement. Then I saw "Remastered" and said to myself "oh, I hope they have the original version as extra or original mode within the game or there will be lots of unhappy people". :)
Other than GoG and Double Fine getting our money a bit early, what actual benefit is there to preordering? I mean, what benefit for US?

JudasIscariot: Sooo any Linux fans excited about the Linux version of Grim Fandango Remastered? I for one can't wait to try it out on my home install :D
Of course. Every Linux release make me a little happier, even if I'm not interested in the game it helps Linux. If I going to play the game it makes me double happy. And if it's a game like this one it makes me tripple happy. =)))

WOW! How cool. That is the best ever! He was so fantastic.

A truly great book indeed, and the film was equally great in its own right. One of film-making-god Mike Nichols' most under-appreciated works. Along with the written & filmed versions of Slaughterhouse Five, Apocalypse Now (novel Heart of Darkness), and the lesser-known Regeneration, Catch-22 is easily one of the greatest singular explorations both of insanity in general and of the insanity of war. And of the four books above, only Vonnegut's can match Heller's.

The price will remain the same, after the pre order ends?

You need A to do/get B, but you cannot get A without B. It applies to your earlier question.

Elmofongo: Complain about it being English only yet you write your complaint in English?

Ah now I see.

Still got low rated in my post sadly.
