Grim Fandango resurrected.

Grim Fandango Remastered marks the return of gaming's most recognisable, and notoriously unavailable, cult classic - now on Windows, Mac, and Linux. This upcoming release got everybody so excited, Tim Schafer even prepared a special trailer all about how you can pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered (and why that’s a fine idea) right now, exclusively on GOG.com for the first week!

Grim Fandango is by far the single most wishlisted game by the GOG.com community with an overwhelming 45,000 votes. It's a unique blend of Mexican folklore with film noir stylings, and has been critically praised for its art direction, writing, and memorable characters.

Grim Fandango Remastered refreshes, refines, and remasters the award winning title and Tim Schafer's last hurrah as LucasArts' adventure-gaming-extraordinaire. The remaster modernizes the game's presentation and gameplay with completely repainted textures, widescreen support, and quite possibly best of all: modern controls. You can now say goodbye to unwieldy tank controls, a staple of the early 3D era, and enjoy a fully point-and-click interface - but only if you want! The option to play the game as originally envisioned is always there.

Have you missed Grim Fandango the first time around? Now's your chance to experience gaming history like never before, or if you have played it in its heyday - you're probably long overdue for another go anyway. You can pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered right now on GOG.com!
The pre-order will last until Tuesday, January 27, when the game is expected to launch on GOG.com.

It took a lot to bring this classic back to life. If you’d like to learn more about the remaster, Double Fine and 2 Player Productions have just released the newest episode of The Making of Grim Fandango Remastered - a recommended watch.

CelestialBunny: Refuse to pre-order unless they throw every single bonus at us, old music score, new music score, wallpapers, artbook, concept drawings and whatever else can be done via digital
Since the release date is only two weeks out in this case, I don't mind preordering without goodies. GOGbears were out in force earlier; this gives the GOG servers some breathing room to get purchases in. It'll be bad enough on download day without trying to do all the purchasing then as well. If this were a long-term preorder, or a higher price tag, I'd be looking for more goodies or "preorder and get the deluxe edition for the standard edition price".

You probably consider me to be of the loud minority whiners, so let me explain once more.

I have said it several times that I'm glad that this game is coming to GOG.com, not to mention launching here, and that it's available for all the platforms. I might even get it, despite already having the original, which probably still works in Wine like it already did years ago (sans hardware-acceleration), as well as ResidualVM.

But I do have concerns. It would be important that this rocks, since it has been indicated that this pretty much buries all hopes of getting the original here. As has already been noted, new versions of other old adventures haven't entirely lived up to expectations. Of particular concern is the music, since the original was pretty good, and is known not to be included. It was shown there are indications that it is well done, but we'll hear it when we'll hear it.

None of this has anything to do with the complaint about the wishlist. I merely find it rude to change the title of what had been voted on for years to something else for appearances sake.

Now, check out my BONE SAW.
I think I'm gonna cum............

Why care, it makes no difference at all. We're still getting the game. I voted for that and I don't give two shits as long as I get to play it.

Finally, the reaction GOG was expecting after this announcement. :P
It´s cheap, it´s user-friendly (switching between old and new as you wish) and it´s the the most wished games on wishlist! Oh, and I´d love to play it---> so there really is no reason to NOT preorder it right now, is there any?
cool
Hell yea! I have the original retail loaded on my computer right now, can't wait to give this a go. Was never a fan of the tank controls and the third party hacks I've tried are buggy. This is a definite buy for me.
Alright, ordered the game along with some other stuff from my wishlist. :) This is one of the few LA adventure games that I never played and I'm looking forward to seeing what the hullabaloo is all about.

And it looks like the game's already at about 648th place in the best selling list, bottom of page 13, not bad.
Please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck...
Insta pre-ordered.

While I would have appreciated having the original as a bonus it looks like the throwback mode will be close enough when the nostalgia bug bites me, and if it isn't I still have the game on disc.

So what's the difference between the original and the throwback mode of the HD remaster? From what I gather we don't get the original synth music in the throwback mode. Any other difference?
Ungratefulness of some people here is simply terryfying. Hard to believe.

While I do want to own Grim Fandango again, I'd hate to give Tim Schafer money after he fucked up with Broken Age so bad. Is there a way to buy it where GOG keeps all of my money?

Cheers for the chuckle.
