dgnfly: You just gotta accept that people here can't cope with critical thinking. Let alone a decent debate.
Anything that is critical or isn't an opinion that is Ren and Stimpy style "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!"
is down voted.
patrikc: Maybe so (I honestly think there is abuse when it comes to downvoting), but this is about a game. One shouldn't expect that level of realism from games. I understand, to a certain degree, where you're coming from (or at least I think so), but at the same time reading you love history made me think of various things. Not gonna mention them here, we can do that over PM (if you're willing, of course). Do we live in a different society than, say, a decade ago? Definitely. Are there certain agendas being encouraged? Most likely.
For me it's easy: I don't agree with the devs point of view, I don't back them up.
Something else and please don't take this as a personal attack: name-calling won't enforce your point of view. If anything, people will ignore it.
On topic now: I played a bit of Conquistador, I had some fun with it, but I was never gripped. Maybe it's not my type of game, still I wish the best to the team behind Rome. Also, it's nice to see there is still support for older systems.
Simply because it is a game doesn't mean it has to lean on the realm of fiction completely. Hence, why battlefield V was hated so much was its overly injecting of woke propaganda.
Like you said, if I don't like a thing I don't buy it, and I will do so, but that doesn't mean freedom of speech should be oppressed because you don't share the same viewpoints on things.
There are games that are close to reality, games like Hell let loose or Rising storm Vietnam 2. I would just like to see more games that try to be accurate to things and not push some sort of ideological tokenism.
There is a reason why western comics are going down the drain and anime is skyrocketing at the moment. All because the Japanese aren't enforcing a political agenda and are more concern of making the content entertaining.
But then even that market is getting corrupted at the moment with woke westerners making up shit in their translation or cutting out whole armies of text cause it triggered the translator/localizer.
One author already admitted why the comic industry in the west is doing this. They get paid regardless of the comic failing, because they will be subsidized anyway with taxpayers money.
At what point would you say you have an option when everything is now turning into pandering garbage?
I'll leave it at this, because I do track the market and the progression of insanity a lot, and could go on for hours.
dgnfly: Getting a feeling that GOG staff themselves are now triggered. Getting a support ticket unrelated to anything I opened, myself, complaining about a very old review I wrote about the butchered re-release of Sam and Max game being butchered garbage.
Wouldn't be the first time I triggered a GOG staff member, One even threatened a permaban against me, simply for saying GOG curation was woke in the past. When words trigger people that much, you really gotta have a screw loose.
Don't get why they're contacting me in the first place seeing as they remove reviews that trigger them normally anyway, they did so in the past.
David9855: I don't mind if people disagree with what I say,
what's disturbing here is people don't seem to like the free speech aspect and want that right taken away from others, yes I'm aware of the clauses of not advocating violence in 'free speech' ect. different opinions and respecting others is one of the pillars of democracy. Add to this it all happened within less then five minutes.
I agree with you 100% on this one.
Only through disagreement can we better ourselves and look at our fault. (if there are any) depending on who is accurate, that is. But people seem to not even cope with the concept of starting a debate about certain topics, or else they feel the need to get you shut down.
It all basically comes down to, Me: "I want an historical accurate game!" and the rest: "shut up you bigot, how dare you ask for something accurate"
NPC morality seems to reign supreme these days. Most of these people seem to be shut out of reality that not everybody agrees with them all the time, or they have such a bloated ego that they think they are always right.
