The chronicle of the Third Era is about to be revealed!

Age of Wonders 3, the long-anticipated continuation to the fan-favorite, award-winning strategy series, set in a robust and beautiful world that becomes the scene for diverse, complex, and engaging gameplay, is available for pre-orders on GOG.com. Depending on your location you'll be charged $39.99 or the USD equivalent of £29.99, or €39.99. An extended Age of Wonders 3 - Deluxe Edition, featuring a full soundtrack and the Dragon's Throne standalone scenario, is available for $44.99, £34.99, or €44.99. As a special pre-order bonus, both versions include the Elven Resurgence, a standalone scenario DLC.

Imagine! Empires rising and falling before your very eyes, led to victory or defeat by heroes of legend so powerful that they appear to be titans in the eyes of mortals. Sorcerers harness the arcane powers to bend the rules of the world around them. Theocrats twist the wills of their followers with the holy aura bestowed upon them by their deities for their zealous service. Rogues rule the shadows, taking any chance to strike and win before their foes even realize there is a war to fight. Warlords earn the loyalty of their legions by the glory gained in the many battles they emerged from, victorious. Archdruids become one with nature, and the land itself rushes to their aid. Dreadnoughts rely on the art of engineering to construct their unstoppable artificial armies. All those powers, all of their miraculous exploits, all of their desires, all thrown into one realm of war. This shall truly be an age of wonders!

With Age of Wonders 3, Triumph Studios aims to set new standards not only for the acclaimed Age of Wonders series, but also for the turn-based strategy genre itself. Taking advantage of all the modern gaming bells and whistles, the title will deliver an impressive level of complexity in gameplay and an immersive, lush, and diverse gameworld that can become your own for hundreds of hours. With the ability to choose one of the six leader classes, you'll be able to custom-tailor your empire--and by extension your experience with the game--to your personal gameplay style, so you can enjoy the extensive campaign the game offers in any way you like. You'll be leading into battle armies recruited from within six humanoid races as well as some fantastic creatures and mythical monsters. The turn-based tactical combat itself will prove to be a challenge for the most seasoned of strategy gamers but also scalable enough for beginners to enjoy. With over 50 location types to explore and exploit, hundreds of abilities to master for tactical and strategic advantage over your foes, visually stunning presentation, and a smart random scenario generator providing virtually limitless replayability, this upcoming title may prove the only turn-based strategy game you'll need for many years to come!

Pre-order Age of Wonders 3, for only $39.99 or the USD equivalent of £29.99, or €39.99 on GOG.com (or opt in for the splendid Age of Wonders 3 - Deluxe Edition), and secure your entry to the fantastic realm of power and dominion, which opens to all the brave souls approximately on March 31. Note that Age of Wonders 3 is the first title with regional pricing on GOG.com in quite some time and this means that we are charging the USD equivalents of the official regional price.

Note, that just as we have done before in such occasions, we'll be throwing in a little something extra to the deal, to accommodate those of you, who end up paying more than the others due to the currency conversion rates applied. We've picked some games that fit well with the genre represented by Age of Wonders III, and if you're one of those people, you'll get to pick one of them. You'll be sent a gift-code allowing you to redeem one of the following excellent titles: Master of Magic, Lords of Magic: Special Edition, Eador: Genesis, King’s Bounty: The Legend, Disciples II: Gold, and Etherlords II.

IAmSinistar: Ha! I'd like to set up a gift trade with you, just to see if it works. Let me know what you want in trade for the Deluxe edition.
avatar
Redfern: I can purchase gift, but i,m not sure if its work or no.
I'm willing to take a chance on it for research purposes, since no bluetexts has explained if it will work yet. What games would you want in trade? Since the Deluxe version is $17 for you, pick out about $20 in games.

JudasIscariot: If you pre-order, the money gets transferred instantly.
And here he is: In the eye of the cyclone! :D

I've thought all of you are hiding in the trenches... ;)

(Btw. I've written to Support and requested some extra cookies for you due your support in the afternoon.)

mattymuc: Yes, that's a joke... I supported GOG with buying almost 600 games here and of course I own every of these free games... ;-) Also I get the retail version for the same price as the digital version... Something is really wrong here...
But, but!! We get to do a giveaway!

...provided we're fast enough to do it before the classified thread gets locked, that is.
You call 39,99 Dollar the USD equivalent of 39,99 € ? I think someone has to repeat his math classes.

Buenro-games: GOG has only the choice of not offering this or doing the regional pricing scheme. It is not something they control. If GOG is going to bring out new releases like this in order to prosper as a business, then I support it. As long as it keeps on bringing out older releases DRM free and doesn't force me to log into their website to play my games (like those OTHER as.holes), then I am fine with GOG. Thanks GOG and I did buy this game.
I totally agree! So long as their games remain DRM-free, I shall continue to buy their games. In fact, I personally would be willing to pay slightly more for DRM-free games. This is why when I save up the money, I will buy Blackguards from GOG. I will have to pass on Age of Wonders 3, though, as I have not played any other game in the series.
*sigh*

Why must all good things come to an end?
I was so waiting for AoW 3... and now my fellow countrymen rather give AoW 3 cheaper to the americans. For $55. I really would love to have this game but I feel ripped off.

And I think I am one of the bigger AoW players here on the forums. Basically:

1. i HAVE to pay $15 more, which I could buy quite a lot of things for. Heck, that's how much I paid for Broken Sword 5!!
2. if I would buy it later because it is too expensive right now... guess what I lose content for the game because of pre-order bonus.

So I get ripped off two times. I would totally have loved to buy it. If you would manage to get the game for 45 dollars deluxe edition, I would have pre-ordered, and no not for any stinking pre-order bonusses. I hate that kind of unfair treatment. If someone doesn't have the cash up front they lose content of the game. Oh and don't get me started on DLC for money. That's also very awful. You have to make your game great enough to sell it, not sell DLC to cash in to make a quick buck. Not to mention without Notch they would not even have been able to get the project decently off the ground at all.

Bah.
Planning on pre ordering this payday :D

Didn't you hear? It's good news! It's a revolution, just not the one we were rooting for...

wvpr: I think I can see why GOG would bend so far for these games. It isn't that they expect us to think these are on par with the absolute biggest names out there. It's that games like AOW are good matches for GOG's customers, and if they can't host these games from day one, they're falling short as a new game retailer. From GOG's perspective, titles like AOW and Divinity are too important to not have in the catalog. From the angry customer's perspective, the games aren't big enough to justify the sudden, unwelcome changes.
avatar
Darvond: I'm really not seeing it. What makes Age of Wonders 3 so special to the point where it has the allowance of two editions, with one of them being entirely redundant?
AOW 3 wants to sell 2 editions with regional pricing. GOG wanted the game here enough to accept that. That's all I can tell. But why they wanted it so badly? I think that had more to do with having access to the highest profile new games that fit GOG's niche, rather than fooling themselves into thinking AOW 3 is GTA or Assassin's Creed. In GOG's mix of something old, something indie, something new, missing out on these games would leave a large void in their catalog.

The way the announcement dropped left no room for such nuance. Good news everyone, we're going to make you really angry in order to make you incredibly happy! Too much anger was created for what was being offered in return. Getting AOW 3 without DRM must have been exciting behind the scenes, a chance to finally show some new-game muscle against the other non-Steam retailers, but it's not exciting enough to the customers. What made perfect sense internally looks like deceit and delusion to the rest of us. I think I'm slowly starting to see GOG's intentions here, regardless of how it turns out for all involved.
Well, sorry, but i'm not ready to trade for games right now.

Based on what TET said on the other thread, that's probably a large part of it: the dead hand of brick-and-mortar retail, desperate not to be out-competed by more efficient online shops. :-(

Ichwillnichtmehr: Don't take it personally.

The company you work for made a decision that A LOT of your customers are unhappy with, so you should expect some grief.

(And if you didn't expect the s**tstorm about this, then you don't know your customers very well.)
We do know our customers very well and we can see that there is a brown tornado, so to speak, rolling through here right now but it's better than avoiding the thread and leaving folks thinking we don't care.

(Don't worry I am not taking anything personally, in case you were wondering :P )

Zeewolf: I'm getting $39.99. Is that a bug or is it because we said no to the EU, like anyone with any good sense would do?
Me too. It seems that non-EU Europeans don't have to pay the € price. For other on-line stores, it's either the EU price or sorry-no-game-for-you (your country is too small), so it's a bit nicer.

Thanks for Summoner, by the way. Wishlisted for now. I have my eyes on Blackguards. :)

Edit: Props for having the courage to post.
