A client is not that bad............. as long as it stays optional .... like i mentioned before.... i joined GOG before joining Steam, i read about the existence of Steam and Gamersgate in the GOG forums, thats why i tried both after i noticed they had lots of HOG and casualgames.
I also knew Steam had a client, also read many posts on that so it was obvious a client had to be used.
Anyway , GOG always said optional client, that is why i don't use it .... also hope it allways will stay optional, cause having to use clients is easy, everyone uses one , and also 99.90% has DRM, Gog is one of the very few who are DRM free and have an OPTIONAL client.
Good thing is i also have a huge backlog of DRM free games still to play , have to become 150 or more if i want to play every game once :D ( also have >400 drm free casual games)....
joppo: "He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster." It's sad that Gog started as the champion of DRM-Free and now it's just another monster. Almost a Steam clone, but one that will never be better at being Steam than Steam themselves. So one that is irrelevant now that their last unique selling point (the DRM-Free pillar) fell. I guess I have no reason to buy any other game here and instead I should invest in storage to back up my offline installers while I can.
Well, at least I have games enough to last me a lifetime. But if it wasn't for that I'd be opening pirateBay in a new tab right now.
Time4Tea: Great post and I very much sympathize. Btw,
Zoom Platform, whilst small, has a surprising number of good games DRM-free and seems to be worth supporting as a fallback, given GOG's continuing slide over the DRM precipice. It also has some games that GOG doesn't, including the Duke Nukem games and AvP Gold.
True... but GOG has prepaid paysafe , Steam also has prepaid Paysave .... gamersgate used to have it but it is gone now ....
