Your journey to Night City is close at hand! As of today, you can pre-load all the necessary files to install Cyberpunk 2077 through your GOG GALAXY app. This way you’ll be able to dive into the most anticipated open-world RPG quickly on 10th December, when the grand premiere of the game takes place.

While we’re at it - take a look at our video below! We’ve created it along with the game’s creators to show you how super grateful we are that you’ve chosen to pre-order Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG.COM, where 100% of your money goes to CD PROJEKT Group.

We can confirm that offline installers will be available at launch, at 1 AM CET. We'll continue to immediately update them with the latest patches after the game's release.

You may have noticed the pre-load is getting updated - it's the 10GB release patch we've implemented now so you can enjoy a smooth launch. The update is 10GB BUT it actually implements changes to some of the existing files, meaning around 50GB of data has to be changed. That is why GOG GALAXY needs roughly 50-60GB of free space for the patch to successfully update.

Alternatively, you can uninstall the pre-load and install it again - that should also do the trick.

dtgreene: (Side note: With all the talk of DRM, I noticed that nobody seems to have mentioned the Denuvo DRM on press copies. While it's not expected on the final release, it is still a case of GOG's parent company implementing DRM.)
Yongyea and MadQueen was open about it, but I don't think it was a secret directly, but CDPR never mentioned it, so...

B1tF1ghter: I would talk about it but I didn't know about it untill now.
Care to provide reputable sources?
While I can't find any reliable source, it seems to be true.

Still, I can accept that has a mean to not leak the game. In the end we are getting the drm-free one anyway.

But I still can't accept nor forgive the pre-orde bullshit.

StingingVelvet: Again, you're conflating client with DRM, they are different things.
If you're forced to use the client to get the game, it's DRM. What if the client doesn't work on your machine (though the game would?). Then you're fucked. What if the client does things you don't want, like spying on you?
Some form of offline installer, or portable archive, which you can get by means of your own choice is the only DRM-free way.

avatar
StingingVelvet: There are many DRM games on Steam even.
I'd even say: All of them. Though a handful can more or less easily stripped of it, but only after you got them.

mrkgnao: What makes you think that CP2077 is DRM-free?

None of the recent news articles about it here (including one titled "Everything we know...") mention that it's DRM-free:

nonnymmus: What makes us think it's free? How about the Cyberpunk 2077 sales page where it says "Why buy on GOG? DRM Free"
It says this on every game page, including those of games that have already been shown to have single-player elements locked behind online-only walls (e.g. No Man's Sky, Absolver). It's just a leftover from the days GOG was DRM-free and they refrain from deleting it for marketing purposes.

Feel like a kid on Christmas morning again. Last time I was this excited about a game release was The Witcher 3, before that was Mass Effect 2, before that was Dragon Age Origin.

Can't believe we're just hours away now.
Upon buying my pre-order i received a message about some codes, that upon redeeming will allow to buy some stuff with discount. I can't find them nor the page with that stuff (i'm guessing shirts, posters etc...).
This is crazy... so they now use money from their drm-free user to support a drm like denuvo?
Is there any more reason to stay away from this game

I'd hardly call that supporting denuvo and drm: this game was way too hyped from the crowd, which would make more easier to leak some press-release version on the internet if that one was drm-free too, and it wasn't a version specified for the end user anway.

Don't get me wrong, I hate denuvo and drm in general as the next sane guy, but to say that they are using people money to support drm is a bit of a stretch, even more because we are getting the drm-free version, be that on steam or GOG.

Also keep in mind that a weak ago or so the cost fo implementing denuvo was leaked thanks to the incompetence of crytek and we learnt that the cost is very subtle, even more so for big companies, and all in all, you can't call cdpr a small one.

Still at the end of the day we are getting the drm-free version, which is the most important thing.

Now, if only it was true for the pre-order items as well, which also raises a question regarding future content for the game to boot...

The 30% discount for physical merch if you're in a region that it applies to?

i just dont understand the need for gog galaxy. why can we not just have an account and be able to log in with that? i understand advertising for gog galaxy but forcing people to use your program for more cosmetic options is pretty shameful. does this only apply to the gog version of the game or all versions?

Guess what, the game already got leaked and is on torrent websites.

only_brad: Guess what, the game already got leaked and is on torrent websites.
Well cdpr wanted to secure pre-order, as much as possible, so it has done its work.

Not that I care from a customer viewpoint (as long our game is drm-free), what I do care about is the crap their are pulling with the my reward BS.

Tarhiel: What are you, Mary Poppins?
avatar
Lesser Blight Elemental: No, I play some proper smut when I'm in the mood. But when it comes to mainstream games, especially RPGs where I try to be immersed, I find it jarring and uncomfortable, just as I would IRL.

avatar
Tarhiel: First, none of the Witcher sex scenes were compulsory, so you stayed away from those games for no reason.
Second, thia game has an M rating - are you really surprise you gonna see mature stuff there?
avatar
Lesser Blight Elemental: You sure? I played Witcher 2 and it had sex and nudity within minutes. Some of the actual porn I play has more restraint than that.

avatar
Tarhiel: And even if in C2077 some of the scenes would be unavoidable (which I doubt), we are talking about Cyberpunk - genre, where decadence, sex, drugs, music and style over substance are in the forefront (even Mike Pondsmith said about it´s own creation that it´s a warning, not an aspiration) - are you really gonna pick this one thing and arbitrarily say you´re not gonna play this game, because it´s there? Really? O.o
avatar
Lesser Blight Elemental: Only the sex bothers me, I'm not a soccer mom. And I didn't know it was supposed to be a defining aspect of the genre. And yeah, sorry to say, but that kind of thing can really sour me on a game. Maybe if it's one small part of the game that's tame like the club in Dragonfall, I can let it slide.

avatar
midrand: But gore and chopping people's heads off is ok? I mean depiction of sex in Cyberpunk is probably the mildest potentially offensive material there is... If you are looking for family friendly entertainment, this is definitely not it.
avatar
Lesser Blight Elemental: I'm not a moral crusader or anything, just trying to avoid material that I personally find uncomfortable in specific genres.
Well, I don´t understand that, but I am not gonna judge.

This game definitely won´t be as that innocent part in Dragonfall club, so I guess you wouldn´t like it.

Witcher 2 - you´re right, that one scene right at the beginning was unavoidable, all the others are.
I have played all 3 of them and I don´t remember that there would be a compulsory sex scene in the first nor the third Witcher.

SmollestLight: To answer some questions:

MY REWARDS requires connecting to your GOG account via GOG GALAXY. After a successful login, internet connection is no longer required. However, the in-game items received are purely cosmetic and in no way affect the single player experience of the game.
avatar
Time4Tea: It doesn't matter. Any form of single-player content gated behind an online requirement = DRM and is unacceptable. Keep your game.

I'm fed up with GOG disrespecting users that don't want Galaxy.
Completely agree. Remember FCKDRM? Ah, what a joke.
