Your journey to Night City is close at hand! As of today, you can pre-load all the necessary files to install Cyberpunk 2077 through your GOG GALAXY app. This way you’ll be able to dive into the most anticipated open-world RPG quickly on 10th December, when the grand premiere of the game takes place.

While we’re at it - take a look at our video below! We’ve created it along with the game’s creators to show you how super grateful we are that you’ve chosen to pre-order Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG.COM, where 100% of your money goes to CD PROJEKT Group.

We can confirm that offline installers will be available at launch, at 1 AM CET. We'll continue to immediately update them with the latest patches after the game's release.

You may have noticed the pre-load is getting updated - it's the 10GB release patch we've implemented now so you can enjoy a smooth launch. The update is 10GB BUT it actually implements changes to some of the existing files, meaning around 50GB of data has to be changed. That is why GOG GALAXY needs roughly 50-60GB of free space for the patch to successfully update.

Alternatively, you can uninstall the pre-load and install it again - that should also do the trick.

No offline installer. Galaxy for reward items. What's next?

And some message to day one users :

"There Will Be Bugs"

As expected with everything nowadays.

Edit : Yeah I know, what I meant was no offline installer for preload.

Ganni1987: "After a successful login" - There's a check there and that screams DRM, regardless if it's just a few skins.
avatar
Laggy_Log: If what you say would make sense, so every game in store is under drm-protection, because - what a surprise - you have to login to purchase any of them. What a disgrace, how low GOG has fallen.

Honestly, you people confuse constant prove of your ownership (what drm really is) with one-time check (what drm is not). And as for this promo - take it as a promo for client. Take it or leave it instead of proclaiming doom with torches and pitchforks.
And you people keep accepting and justifying bullshit practices enough that it keeps happening.

Your understanding of DRM is mixed up, even a one time connection is still a form of digital rights management. It's still forcing you online for content you cannot get other ways in a single-player game, no matter how you try to justify it it's still DRM'd content. It being "just cosmetic" content is not a valid argument either.

Also, yeah, we DO take it as a promo for the client, a terrible client that needs to piss off and die before GOG kills itself with it.

Stop making concessions, stop giving up your rights bit by bit, stop defending this kind of garbage and look at the bigger picture.

Well... as long there is no offline installer, that check has to be made every time you install or re-install the game. And that is DRM - it's not a one-time-check.

no offline installer(s) ?
that sounds bad , very bad.........

i was browing the site to check for new games ( not logged in...) and noticed 200+ replies ....
at first i assumed they were all positive replies that said the game is very good ... so i logged in to read them ....
then i discovered talk about DRM ? :D

( it would be sad cause then i would save all my cash and that could stack up a lot over years and i already have a new PC, there is no use for me or need , to buy 3 new pc because of all the money usually spend on games will be saved. I already bough far less games then i used to, my backlog is huge , my steam backlog as well, i also spend a lot less on steam cause many new games released are not what i am looking for ( i usually buy artifex HOG at release but its 5 months since they released a game ....

Anyway, if and when GOG decides or should decide to change things there is little we can do about, even if they add "" DRM"" or a form of ""DRM"" or add extras only for users using the optional Galaxy client they have the right to do so... there is nothing we can do about it.

Bad move, they should have foreseen what shitstorm this would bring. We can speculate about their reasons, or if they provide offline cosmetic dlc later, but will still be just speculations.

It's a slippery slope, but I'll let it slide this time. I've waited 8 years, I'll not let some virtual plushie nonsense ruin this. When I decide to celebrate real 2077 year by dusting off my old hard drive and doing a playthrough and rememinisce how 50 years ago we had this weird attempt at DRM-free revolution (before EA joined their forces with RIAA in 2047, bought GOG and few other small stores and sell them for scraps, and slipped mandatory DRM brain chip into a law to close the analog loophole)... missing t-shirt on my character (that I won't see most of the time anyway) will be least of my worries. I'd be nearly 100 by then, I'll probably have trouble remembering my own name.

Yes it is .... and i also really hate DRM , on steam i only buy the game that can run without steam once they are installed by steam, i hid any game that doesnt allow that ( thats > 100 now and i also dont buy from those developers)
Like i said Artifex games could run without steam after they are installed but it seems they are ""gone"" 5 months since they released a game.

Anyway, sad/bad time are coming everywhere, not only with games and movies ...

Don't get me wrong. I do use Galaxy. I'm okay as long as it's optional. But when I "need to" use Galaxy, that's a different story. Yeah this is theirs and they can do whatever they want with it.

Of course there's something we (or me at the very least) can do. Buy elsewhere. GOG has been my main platform for the last few years, even though their prices are (most of the times) higher than other platforms in my case. If they decide to DRMing their store then it's not even a reasonable choice anymore.

I don't agree with the outrage, but I'm worried about what this store will be, since they lowered their standard more and more. I used to be very proud of GOG. Seriously. Pardon me if I sound like a child, but I really do.

Judicat0r: I knew it! I saw this coming miles away, I swear it!
I even hinted at it in the thread about the diskless PC release hoping someone else would come forward.

First you use misleading practices like the physical PC box with no disc, then you force people to use Galaxy to get all the content otherwise people would miss.

CLAP, CLAP, CLAP GOG, I always thought you were the lesser evil, well, until now I guess.
umm..
not having a phisical copy inside a retail box is a deceit.
I stopped buying pc games because of this, before gog.

man..i'm tired of the corruption everywhere now.

Lone_Scout: A weird statement for someone concerned about DRM-freedom. There are better options.
not weird. I just buy where I can get games cheaper at that point... maybe I can still try to get drm-free (but not client free) games on steam, epic, gog, or get real drm and client free games on humble bundle if it's not an impossible task, or I will just crack the games I buy like I did in the past with DVD (if it's mine I can delete the drm), or maybe I will just play games that I already own and get free games from many sources without worring about drm (if it's free I don't really care).
Ok, am I missing something - on 10th of December will there or won't there be offline installers for download?

There will be offline installers, people just want them now, or at least some of them now so they don't have to download them all at once later.

But there will be offline installers on release day.

I dont get you wrong .... i'm used to a lot and usually take a lot. :D.... but sometimes when people or companies mess up things by making a 180 degree turn , we reply.

Anyway, , GOG is one of the very few that has DRM free, and lot's of big publishers have old( and some newer) games on GOG like EA , so sooner or later things could change, and it seems it is. :D

Policies change, sooner or later they all change and join the ones they always told the users they would never "join""

Anyway, not suprised a bit ... saw this coming a long time ago :D

Looks like the collectors editions have shipped out and will be here early tomorrow in the UK. Which means console players will be able to play a day early unless they have a release date lock but I don't think they do.
