Your journey to Night City is close at hand! As of today, you can pre-load all the necessary files to install Cyberpunk 2077 through your GOG GALAXY app. This way you’ll be able to dive into the most anticipated open-world RPG quickly on 10th December, when the grand premiere of the game takes place.

While we’re at it - take a look at our video below! We’ve created it along with the game’s creators to show you how super grateful we are that you’ve chosen to pre-order Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG.COM, where 100% of your money goes to CD PROJEKT Group.

We can confirm that offline installers will be available at launch, at 1 AM CET. We'll continue to immediately update them with the latest patches after the game's release.

You may have noticed the pre-load is getting updated - it's the 10GB release patch we've implemented now so you can enjoy a smooth launch. The update is 10GB BUT it actually implements changes to some of the existing files, meaning around 50GB of data has to be changed. That is why GOG GALAXY needs roughly 50-60GB of free space for the patch to successfully update.

Alternatively, you can uninstall the pre-load and install it again - that should also do the trick.

I just read about the game's current (pre-day-1 patch? maybe?) state over at Ars Technica whose reviews and impressions tend to be miles above typical gamer sites: often highlighting what's good, not so good, and outright disappointing rather than the usual glossing over details most everywhere else.

Definitely sounds like I'll be holding off another few months so some of those rough edges can be ironed out some more.

alexandros050: GOG do you remember the days when you launched https://fckdrm.com/ ???
It was a pr stunt. It always is. They were never in the position to speak like it was one of their core value. Look, they can not even push their sister company to stay full DRM-free.

nightcraw1er.488: So again, those who don't wish to use the "mandatory" client are second class citizens, perhaps the next banner could be FCKOffline Users. Refund requested, and will not be supporting GOG or CDPR again in the future.
avatar
sanscript: More like #FCKyourownusers. SmollestLight commented on some "confusion"... of course there will be confusion when they deliberately are obtuse in their communication to their users.

But seriously, you're ditching the game and GOG just because you have to wait longer? That was the trigger? I agree we are like second class users in some cases, but still... Due to work and family stuff I personally can't play the game until closer to Christmas, but I don't mind waiting a little anyway.

Had they denied offline installers altogether for this game only to force Galaxy, then yes, I'd be walking out with you, offering to pay for a pint or two (or whiskey, whatever your poison is), and then going back to pirating :D
Yeah I don't mind waiting till the actual release day for the offline installers. Even if they offered preload installers (which are missing some files and need a separate patch), I would have wanted to wait until a proper installer with all the needed files is made, before downloading it.

toxicTom: That whole rewards thing is so silly and pointless.

They could easily add the stuff as small dlc installers - like the Witcher alternate outfits.
Precisely! The mechanisms for this already exist. The account checks should happen on their server and add the DLC to the list of products owned for download/install like any NORMAL RATIONAL [DRM-FREE] DLC.

Exit74: When joining up for the multiplayer adventure, you know cosmetics is a way for them to earn more money to keep the servers online and pay the developers. And talking about modding, i hope they (cdpr) will release the tools too make it happen.
avatar
Anime-BlackWolf: Correct. As in "Gwen". And I COULD live with that.

BUT WHY NOT bring the cosmetics for the single player game in Galaxy AND as install-file.exe also? So both parties would be fine with that.

WHY alienate a very FIERCE part of the buying community here? Where is the gain here?
Yes you are correct , IMHO they should have given the option to download a file version of cosmetics and patch them in the offline game for their customers.

This sounded funny:

The problems go beyond animation and AI errors. Sometimes I'd get an in-game phone call in the middle of an in-person conversation, and I'd end up watching as V tried to carry on both conversations at the same time.
Here is that actual scene from the game:

toxicTom: I don't get why CDPR insists on alienating their most faithful customers like that - what is there to gain?
Not much to gain but a LOT to lose obviously. Those who are only here because of CP2077 and those cosmetics don't have to STAY here and buy other stuff as well - they might as well create this account just for this one game because Steam still is (in most cases) cheaper and their games are faster updated. Zjsoe don't have a problem with DRM so there'S nothing GOG could offer those that Steam does not offer too - just cheaper and sometimes better. However those old and loyal GOGers, those that left a ton of money here already - those that even are willing to spend more on a game just to support DRM-free ... if they lose those it will be much worse and they constantly slap them in their faces with their decisions. I wonder why they don't see this.
PC Gamer review also mentions how it's terribly buggy right now even with the launch patch. Next year then for me. ;)

MIK0: One of the pillar of GOG is that they lie to their customers and I they always stay true to that in a way or another.
Everybody lies, big business is just, well, big in that.

Anyway, important question: why is on this news page main protagonist a chick, while in every other media he's a dude?

Thank you, I knew I would need to be very patient with this game. Doesn't look I'm going to ruin my possibility for a return anytime soon either...

I have no doubt the game will be fun to play... when most of the optimizing and bug-smashing are done that is :)

SmollestLight: To answer some questions:

MY REWARDS requires connecting to your GOG account via GOG GALAXY. After a successful login, internet connection is no longer required. However, the in-game items received are purely cosmetic and in no way affect the single player experience of the game.
BOO!! Cosmetic content is still content. It was bad enough trying to pretend games here are DRM-free even with the equivalent of DRMed multiplayer by claiming "single-player is DRM-free". No wonder there was no satisfactory response to users' concerns with No Man's Sky gating content behind an online requirement...GOG was busy prepping for the same thing in Cyberpunk.

DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play

So, logging in to one's GOG account via a browser is officially no longer equal to logging in via GOG Galaxy? Only thing left is to tell your non_GOG-Galaxy customers that they're second class ones in their faces, I guess.

Well, so were/are the 16 DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which you, to this day and time of typing this, advertise on its page as "improving the experience". Said "experience"... let me check really quickly, just to be sure I convey 100% accurate info... yes, is the single player one.

I said "how the mighty have fallen" when you introduced purchasing DRM games via GOG-Galaxy; apparently there was still room to crash.

Ahh yes, long are the days gog went out of their way to patch out the very thing they advertise here with "my Rewards".
Can´t even pretend this time, its multiplayer related only, like NMS, since i only see "singleplayer" tag in Cyberpunk gamepage.
I'm not more upset because i wasn´t going to purchase it day one since it looks too much of a fps for my tastes, but now, it looks more like i wont purchase it at all, ever.

How the mighty have fallen.

Sorry if I am just dumb or blind, but can you explain to me what the problem here is ?
I see people here complaining that they can't preload without Galaxy., something I don't care at all personally, but can understand somewhat (but as far as I know, preloading was never part of the advertisement for the game).
But the whole "my rewards" is something I just don't see at the games page here on gog, only on the games official website and on there the info that you need to sign into "my rewards" is printed directly above the "rewards" even in bigger letters then the description of the rewards itself.
So what did I miss here, was there some big advertisement about those rewards that gog removed at some point ?

There's effectively a DLC that is hidden behind in-game online connection DRM.
