Maxvorstadt: Interesting that Terraria is on the 9th place worldwide. I bought my copy at GoG, and many others will have done this, too. So I guess, that Terraria could be on a higher place in the list, if we take all sales -and not only from Steam- into account. Interesting that an Indie-ish game sells so good!

huan: I'm not that surprised. I sunk insane amount of time into that game. Three characters, each about 150 hours (for two I know thanks to the Galaxy, the first I can only guess). I thought the whole minecraft-like genre was a bit silly before, and bought it on a whim with launch discount for something like $3... almost makes me feel guilty I paid so little, I don't think I ever had a game with better cost/entertainment ratio. If Otherworld makes it here, i'll have a chance to ease my guilt :)
Otherworld? Is this a game based on the novels?

Not sure which novels you mean... I was thinking about this

Ah, I was mistaken it with "Otherland" the novels of Tad Williams, sorry! :-)

Ooooooooooh.
I thought you were talking about this.

I don't think THAT one is going to get here... Terraria: Otherworld might (when it gets out of being early alpha).

cogadh: I think it's interesting to see Civ 5 still in the top 25 (US). You'd think after 5 years there wouldn't be enough strategy fans without it to keep it up there.
Notice how the base price is still £20
Still didnt bought anything
I'm responsible for exactly 0 of those purchases.

But the GOG staff yacht was recently christened the "budejovice." ;)

it goes on sale for 50-75% off so often. Maybe that's a key to keeping interest in a game for years and years. ^_^ --make people think they're still getting a bargin.

I've got my 11 year badge on Steam. Over those 11 years I've bought about 80 games.

I've been on GoG less than 3 years and my GoG library is 155 games. That would be much higher if publishers put more of their catalogue on GoG. I'd love to get more of the Lego games for my kids.

I bought three games on steam for my kids for 99c (lot), pretty good quality actually (teddy floppy ear series). I bought 5 counterstrike games (GO, Source etc) for $10 for the lot. I can't agree that steam doesn't have a plethora of good games for cheap as chips...

A few months ago Asda(walmart) sold Kellog Cornflakes at a price cheaper than their own branded cornflakes. We were able to buy 5 packrts and take advantage of that. But i'm not going to say kellogs are cheaper than el-cheapo cornflakes.

it's just squished corn, why isn't it a $1 a box? Outrageous. But yeah that's fair, but it's also fair to say they have so many sales I don't know anybody who doesn't buy 90% of their steam stuff on sale. So if you look at it like that, I'd say steam is cheap. That and things like humble bundle, several games every week for $1... I have a friend with 700 games or something and only buys stuff he likes that's also 75% off or more. He would always have alerts set for flash sales lol, I don't know if they do that much but they used to do 12-24 hour sales all the time. I guess if you only bought cornflakes when they were less than homebrand, and you never found yourself having to eat anything else but cornflakes... you would consider them cheap regardless of what they cost when they weren't on special. :P
"Sales", please stop using that word when referring to Steam: on Steam you "lease" your games, if Valve decides to block/terminate your on-line account your years-worth "sales" will amount to absolutely NOTHING. Except for regret. Just a reminder.
