I haven't played the sequel, but I heard it had mixed reviews.

Maybe Outlast would be a better sequel to Amnesia! :P

Don't bother, I tried twice and got stopped by a different gamebreaking bug both times.
Also the fact that The Chinese Room pretty much ruined the parts that were good in the first.

Yes, I've had to face the reality that I'm the only one who doesn't like it. ;P

Never got hit by bugs in Machine for Pigs, luckily. The AI wasn't much good though. One time I was stood on some bucket & a Pig wouldn't attack, just stood about, until I turned & then it attacked.

As for the game itself, it is okay, but absolutely not worthy of the Amnesia title.

The perma light, the doors/drawers/objects that couldn't be interacted with at all. The lack of spookiness compared to A:TDD. That blue fog. I mean, come on, wth were they thinking!? (luckily could be turned off via .Ini's.

I've played A:TDD countless times & will some more.
SOMA is another great.
Basically, anything made by Frictional Games is a certain hit :D

I suspect they'll put up 20,000 copies of Jack Keane at 90% off, and refuse to sell anything else until all those are gone.
