zeogold: I remember what it was like to be a kid. Most kids, in my experience do not care about how impressive something looks. It's just "Whoa! Cool! Colors and explosions and stuff!"
Even I didn't start out as the Puzzlemaster. 7-year-old me would've been bored by "Masterpiece Theatre".
Sure, I watched a lot of silly stuff, but I also watched Star Trek the Next Generation and Batman TAS and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (the one with Jeremy Brett). I played Dune (the first game, by Cryo. My mom read me The Lord of The Rings at bedtime. With all that stuff as comparison, I always knew when I was dealing with something not really good even if I found it fun, and there was plenty of stuff I just outright rejected.

As you can imagine, I was the one guy in my class who didn't like the Lion King. Boy, was I popular :P

And that's why you think that making Lion King into the horror movie would be a good decision?

You said youself that you liked they made a goofy tv show about superpowered teenagers into a serious sci-fi movie. Essentially it's the same as making any Disney cartoon into horror.
Disney has made plenty of horror films before; live action and animated.

The "Sorcerer's Apprentice" could be seen as horror or not depending on what the acid you dropped before watching it was laced with.

Uh... no. I like the fact that they made the crappy TV show look like it may not be so crappy. Whether they go the fun way, or the serious way, in this case I don't much care, as long as it's any good. The show wasn't.

I would not turn the Lion King into a horror. Though yes, if I was making itthe tone would be a little more serious. I'dd drop some of the songs (not all), and I would dial down the humor near the end. This scene always made me cringe. We're building up to the final showdown with the main villain here and this thing just robs the proceedings of any gravitas.

My favourite Disney villain (and one my favourite Disney movies).

What age was this?
Most kids here in America don't typically get to that sort of stuff until 13 or so.

The only problem is that trailer doesn't look like it's not crappy. Only serious and maybe epic. Like Super Mario film serious and epic.

Alright, that's it. We're hereby banning you from Disneyland.

That's a matter of opinion.
Breja's saying that he likes the trailer because it seems to depart from the campy-ness of the original show.

So you're saying that it does look like it's crappy.

No, he's not saying that it doesn't not look like it isn't crappy. What he's saying that it DOES look like it DOESN'T look to others how it would look to him, in the sense of when it's crappy, it isn't not crappier than it could be.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I just wanted to make sure.

You can say that. Although there is no real crap shown, my first association is Raimi's Spider-man. It was also a story about a guy, who got superpowers, but was rather lame (story and guy both). In other words trailer shows a potential for movie being a crap.
