Usually you have to brew the "Potion of Game Revealing" so others know what you are talking about. But I guess it´s Witcher 3. Sorry, haven´t played it.

I've always saved him... so I can't really help you.

You can always load an earlier save and do some treasure hunts and contracts (go Witchering...) to level up. Makes things a lot easier.
Are you sure you want to fight it?

You just need to keep Quen at all times, prepare Axii to calm the botchling and dispatch the warits with specter oil and Yrden if necessary. Always good to bring some White Raffard decoction, also Tawny Owl never expires during night, so you don't have to worry about stamina.

If you really want to fight the thing, Cursed oil is what you need.

Alas, it is random. There is no way to know for sure, you can find it by chance in points of interest as loot... though if you check herbalists, the Pellar or the Alchemist near Oxenfurt they often have recipies for sale at relatively low prices.
Gremist in Skellige has everything, but reaching him is way too hard if you aren't at least at level 20.

There are three places I know where you can get the recipe. If you already have it from one source the others will be absent:

1. Tomira (White Orchard) gives it to you if you give Lena a Swallow potion
2. Keira Metz (sells it)
3. Rosa var Attre estate garden, in some crates.
