PookaMustard: Caught a part of it on tape!

Should be a lesson on why you should NOT use Steam.

zeogold: Anybody can be hacked, amigo. Steam is supposedly one of the top gaming sites as far as security, so theoretically it would be even easier for the same to happen with GOG.
Would be a disaster if every uses library is empty.

Time for backup I guess.

GOG doesn't STORE credit card information, amigo.
Someone royally fucked up routine maintenance or something here. It's not a hack, so no information is being stolen.

You can't use the store to purchase and there's no way to get credit card information off this issue. It might have been possible at the start for people to use others Steam wallet funds but there's no confirmation that actually happened.

BUT you can access the personal information of someone else if you get sent to their account through steam. I checked it and wound up on someone's account where I could see where they lived, their name, phone number. Everything but CC information.

It's not working like that with IT security.

If any gog account users see ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS on their gog account or with the site, MAKE A POST IMMEDIATELY. Don't mean to be alarmist, but I think we should be on guard in case this shit come our way.

Didn't it already months ago?
There are a bloody lot of threads about hacked accounts on GoG and insufficient security methods.
It all seemed to start with the release of Witcher 3.

You could actually see their phone numbers, because from what I saw you could only see their last 4 digits (like CC info)? I saw the profiles of a few people in the past hour.
All hail Gaben, everyone can see my E-mail and fake name now. :/
Good thing I dont have any cash in my Steam wallet. Except for those 65 cents. :`(

Idea: Call them and wish them a Merry Christmas, tell them you're their secret Santa and send them a goofy sweater in the mail.
low rated
Ah, the old Steam-has-an-issue-commence-circle-jerk thread.

I'm talking something more like what's happening on Steam now, but yeah, gog needs two-step or something, but our concerns will probably fall on deaf ears again. :/

Yeah, I could see the whole thing. Where they lived, names, phone number, personal details that I doubt they'd want revealed.

Right now there's no danger of people using your information to buy anything...but there's definitely the danger that bad people could find your personal information and find someway to use that against you. Not sure what all you could do without identification or CC number but I'm sure there's people out there that can find ways.

The simple solution to all of this is no matter the site or program or platform, if possible never save your personal information and payment details. I'm fairly certain I have nothing saved in payment details so even if someone did access my account there's nothing they can really take from it.

mikopotato: Wow. This is bad. Thanks for the heads up!

Good that I haven't logged into steam for a year or so...
Been playing Kotor for the past five hours, hope whoever gets my debit card details, pays off my overdraft..
