ICO You Were There
I play mostly war games on the pc. My favorites are from hearts of Iron II.. Andreas Waldetoft does some good music for Hearts of Iron. I am also a fan, and get goose bumps, when I hear the intro to Eastern Front II from Talon Soft.

Other music I enjoy from Video games would include Civ IV The Lords prayer Baba Yetu.

The music from Rome Total war 1 . Much of it is very appropriate for the game.

Also the music composed for Europa Barbarorum which is total conversion for Rome Total War 1. The redid the music and made it authentic music from antiquity.

There are a couple of tracks from Star Trek online that have "opera man" as he is called that are superb IMO.

My all time favorite is the music from Everquest 2. A real orchestra and real music especially the music from the Thundering Steppes.

I love some of the marches from Command and Conquer as well. Act on instinct, Just do it up, and my top favorite Hell March.
I like this theme from Magic 2014,

Recently started playing Startopia, nice track from it

iippo: Lotus Turbo Challenge 2

And naturally every Turrican. I wonder who holds Turrican rights these days.

Turrican 1

Turrican 2

Nostalgia-man edit: Amiga era had seriously most distinct game music.

These days soundtracks tend to be too "2 steps from hell" sort of generic movie stuff.
Yes. I can fully agree on that he Amiga had ideed some great music for it's time.
I used to play on this system alot back in the day, and I have a gigantic nostalgia for it, even though I was very young at that point, so I don't remember games (besides Lotus games, Syndicate and Cannon Fodder) all that much. Later on switched to a Playstation.
Turrican 1 and Turrican 2 sounds great though, I will definitely give it a listen later on. Thanks for sharing!

Firebrand9: Doom.
This.
Also, I must find someone to punch me for forgetting to put Doom 1 and Doom 2 soundtracks on my favorite list.
I am a huge fan of those games, though, played them, completed and enjoyed them only a few years ago (2006-2008), not in the time when the games where released.
With a more modern control sheme and with full mouselook it was an absolute joy to play. And the music was brilliant. The meme "that's prettly effing metal" suits here very well I'd say :P

One thing that I like to add:

Journey To Silius title song and stage 1/5 are my favorite, but the whole soundtrack is great - This is kind of a weird for me, because I actually didn't play this game, only encountered this soundtrack being played on a livestream. I've instantly searched for it listen to it at my own, and it was soo good. Listening to it from time to itme till this very day.

Also, so far I must say that all Castlevania games have some lovley music. I have to dig deeper into that.

Yodake: Trine 1
The first time I played Trine, it was mind blowing to learn that Ari Pulkkinen is the same guy who composed the Angry Birds theme.
I took my sweet time and edited all of my track descriptions with my opinions, so it's more clear right now and ease on the eyes.

Three more from my list. Modern ones though:

Hotline Miami whole soundtrack, especially MOON - Yep. Even though I usually don't listen to this kind of music, this grabbed me instantly and kept me listening. Was listening to this all the time few months back.

Far Cry Blood Dragon soundtrack - Now, this game is great. Though, it's the same mechanically as the third Far Cry. Though, it delivers with a redesigned, simple and brilliant story, sound and visual design and tweaks here and there. I strongly suggest you play this one. But, enough of that.
Favorite track:

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim going against the rules - The soundtrack was great, but not what I will call a favorite. So I will go against the rules and post a trailer music. It has given me chills every single time. It has been the last part of the official trailer.

Cheers.

The MOTHER series has some of the best, and emotional music in any rpg.
Unreal has some killer songs that really immerse you into the atmosphere.
Heroes of Might and Magic- Ah, where to start. Each terrain and town gets their own theme, and matches it perfectly. I think HoMM 2-3 have the best music, although HoMM 4 has some great tunes as well (The music alone almost redeems the rushed gameplay)

This immediately brought to mind the Mortal Kombat theme

cschock: Harvest Dawn from Oblivion by Jeremy Soule

TheMonkofDestiny: Soule is someone I still can't believe doesn't work with a live orchestra at every opportunity (any developer hiring him to score their game no doubt wishes they had the money to accommodate for such).

His work on Secret of Evermore really set the stage for the future of his output though, with its mix of orchestral and ambient pieces. He seemingly has the orchestral scoring side of things on a lock, since most of his work in that style is never longer than it needs to be (which can't be said for some other composers who tend to extend them well beyond what's necessary).
I agree that his orchestral work is often excellent. I've never played Secret of Evermore (since I've never had a Nintendo system), but I will have to see about finding samples of the music.

cschock: I'm a big fan of the Fallout 1 and 2 soundtracks by Mark Morgan. You can download many of the tracks in high bit rate digital form for free (fully legally) as part of the Vault Archives.

Some other game tracks I find very good are:

Harvest Dawn from Oblivion by Jeremy Soule
Outlaws Theme from Outlaws by Clint Bajakian

The Machinarium and Bastion soundtracks are quite good from more recent games.
That second track that you have posted is just fantastic, never heard of Outlaws. Will check it out.
