I don't really have anyone to play it with, but I'd like to check it if only for the story. Are there any ways of playing it without a second human? I don't want to resort to watching a video run of the game.
None that I know of. The levels are designed for two players, so they are impossible to complete alone.

It's great fun in co-op though. I highly recommend it. Maybe you can find someone here to play with? I'm game to give it a go at some point, but I don't have a lot of time available at the moment.

Edit:
Additionally, I recommend using voice chat when playing it in co-op. Additionally additionally, I recommend not using the built-in voice chat feature, because for some stupid reason, that cuts out in the loading screens. Use Skype, Teamspeak, Mumble, etc. instead.

Thanks. I'll look around at work to see if anyone is interested. If not I might post here. As soon as I finish the single player and have free time that is.

No. PC. Thank you, but not really what I'm looking for. I'd rather play it, or if all else fail watch a let's play video.

I also say it is an awesome coop game that I highly recommend. Chat is very much needed also.

It's probably the most fun if neither of you have played the co-op before. The "figuring out the solutions together" part of it is fantastic.

Still, there are so many maps and so diverse solutions, that I certainly can't remember them all.
I would love to try out the multiplayer. I haven't finished the single-player game either (I've no idea how far along I am, likely not very far but I can't even remember where I stopped when I played last time, and I would be surprised if the save is not lost to the ether), but I hope that doesn't matter much, I did finish the first game and really enjoyed that.

I've got it on PC and haven't played it yet. Here's your opportunity! You can play a puzzle game with the Puzzlemaster himself!

Just to make it clear,
the main story can be played single player.

I'm not sure if the multiplayer mode has a story
Just finished it with zeogold. Without chat. Just the in-game messages and pointing system.

Great fun, highly recommend it too.

Yup, worked just fine with only sparse text communication, 25% of which were just poor ZFR having to endure my bad jokes. The pointing system is definitely very well put-together. I can see two people completing the game using only that alone.

It was VERY well done. The puzzles were quite excellently constructed. The only issue I had with the whole thing was that the ending was a little cheap and empty. Other than that though, it was great.

Thanks for playing! If you ever get any other co-op puzzle games you wanna try out, you know who to call.

Good for you two :-)

It really is an excellent experience. And yes, voice chat is certainly not a requirement, but it does make it more fun, I think. Especially since it allows you to easier compare notes on what GlaDOS is telling each of you ;-)
