Unless one has some mental condition that makes ignoring such things and doing one's best to not be offended difficult then it most certainly is. Most 'normal people' can craft and hold onto their morals and react to things as they wish.
Because a number of those who make such threads don't do it to humbly ask for filtering options. They do it, quite simply, to virtue signal about one of their pet peeves. If one wants such options the proper method would be to contact the site via email or other messaging options and not make a soap box style thread about it.

Use browser extensions and/or avoid game pages with adult content.

I'm afraid the only solution is too unsubscribe to the newsletters for the moment. Till GOG adds (if they ever do this one day) some options for the games you want to receive newsletters.

Adult games don't only include those which you don't want receive a newsletters. GOG needs to be more specific for this kind of games.

You think those avenues have never been tried? That if they actually worked as advertised threads like this would be created? This is like telling someone to vote in a referendum where the votes are never counted and shut up because he does not get what he wants.... or thinking online petitions actually affect real world change instead of being a way for the masses to blow off steam and pretend they did something political. If you ever actually used something like that you would know they block entire websites mostly by blocking at hosts file level, they don't use AI to identify and cover nudity. So it would block the entirety of GoG not specific game pages or parts of emails. Now if GoG did the effort to host porn pics on a separate porn-only server... then this would work.... it would not filter out porn games on the store though. Beware the power of irony.

Just keep in mind, the tags on GOG are... unreliable, to say the least.

This is not about offense though.... if it just offended people they would bother as much about it as they do with everything else that offends them.... which is they would barely notice it.

It's about the effect it has on your brain and habits.

Tell me this.... if exposed to a game where you play as a mass murderer or witness lots of violent death how easily would that make you need to kill people?

And tell me this... if you play a game where there is lots of naked woman how easily would it make you need to masturbate?

You do know one act takes a significant amount of resources, planning, physical work, and very illegal, and above all else is morally wrong, right? While the other is normal, completely harmless, and requires 5 mins of time?

Whether either of these compared examples is harmful or easy is irrelevant to the question. The question is... does the same level of exposure ensure both results equally? Because if the power level was the same would the effect not be the same?

And if the effect is not equivalently powerful.... should effective preventative measures not be disproportionate to ensure equal prevention outcome?

You don't see the problem with these games? They are a glorification of war and usually relativsing history. WW2 is not fun. These games usually omit the crimes against humanity and other war crimes. Do you need a history lesson why it is disgusting to play Nazis or Soviets? Despite my problems with these games I wouldn't start a thread against them. I just ignore them.

I know what your trying to construct here. You want to show how games with violence have no effect, but the evil porn games are bad for your brain. I don't buy this. Most people which I've talked to about these games are playing them for the lighthearted fun in these games. They don't use them as fap material. There are people who prefer 'Play as a young college student exploring love, lust, and sexual fetishes with the hottest women in town.' over 'Experience the intense action and real ambience of the Vietnam war.' That's all.

We are also talking about the newsletter here. The ads are harmless. The overreaction is ridiculous. I agree that GOG needs a filter option for everyone. This is the solution of this problem and threads like these. I disagree with the outrage.

I have more moral trouble with a 4X game where you kill millions in late game wars.

You don't play as a high ranking political figure in your typical WW2 game, you are just a man forced into a position where you have to make your side not lose.... and in that situation the lives of enemy soldiers are worth less than the lives of yours. This has been true in all wars historically where the politicians start the wars and the youth die for them.

But all of this is besides the point as repeated below, you need to stop muddying the waters with your own ideology if you are going to claim something to be invalid because it's based on an assumed ideology. No, I am asking the question that should have an obvious answer.... are both kinds of exposure equally powerful in ensuring a cause of action on the part of the exposee?

Are you as the typical human male just as likely to engage in sexual activity as you are to engage in violent activity given the same level of exposure?

I repeat it for you. I gave you a simple example of games where I have problems. I dislike them. That's all. I just don't make a huge fuss about it. I am not outraged because GOG is selling these games. I don't start a thread or I don't hijack the release threads of these games and either demand from GOG to remove these games or start the big 'these games are bad for you' discussion. I simply ignore the games I dislike.
